AP top 25 (Dec. 19th)

AP is out...coaches should be soon too.

CU up 2 spots at 23 with 130 votes. However, another good sign is we have 4 teams getting votes. Wichita St. (8) #33, UNI (7) #36 and Indiana St. (1) #42.

I just dropped the same note in the getting 4 in? thread. It will always be good to see multiple teams getting national recognition. It helps even more if those teams do their job in conference.

I think a win over Ohio could really give UNI a jolt. I was hoping that their play up to this point would have earned them more votes so that might actually get them into the top 25 when valley play opens up, but that doesn't look likely unless they make a huge statement.

Coaches poll is also in.

CU went from 24 to 21.
No valley schools got any votes.
UNI had 3 votes last week, got 0 this week. Guess that's a result of not playing any games last week

You have to wonder though how much the voters really look into it when it comes to the bottom of the poll. Probably a lot of people voting with bias. There is no consistancy between both polls in "also getting votes"

They vote Vandy out of the top 25, but have no consideration for the team that beat them (on the road). Looks like St. Joes got credit for beating CU though.

It's a bit surprising considering the SOS of some of our teams, their marquee wins and the fact that we have 4 teams with records of (9-1, 8-1, 8-2, 8-2) and no terrible losses yet (especially with all the positive press the valley has been getting too).

No doubt that there is bias, UNI for instance got votes from:

John Bohnenkamp, The Hawk Eye
Kevin McNamara, The Providence Journal (UNI played Providence in South Padre)
Elton Alexander, The Cleveland Plain Dealer (UNI plays Ohio tomorrow)
Nick Jezierny, The Idaho Statesman, no idea why he votes UNI. He's been the one voting UNI for a few weeks now but he didn't submit a ballot this week

It would obviously be beneficial to the teams of these writers to have UNI in the top 25

Jays stay ranked in ESPN Poll at 24 but drop out of AP poll at 26

I find it interesting that SDSU cracked the AP and has not played a D1 school for 11 days and will not do so again until Jan. 10th against Chicago St. They must have really showed something special in their 40 point drubbing of D3 team Redlands.

Jays fall 4 spots to #17 in this week's AP poll (Feb. 6)
Shockers @ #31 (6th among others receiving). Long Beach is actually #32.

In the Coach's Poll, Creighton fell to #15 from #12
Shockers @ #36

It will take the Shockers winning both games this week to crack the Top 25 and that still may not be enough. Would have thought they would have moved up a little this week, but they actually lost ground with two wins. Doesn't make much sense, but it really doesn't matter in the long run.
