Select the player that you believe will be named the 2012-13 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year for mens basketball.

Last year, our users selected Nic Moore of Illinois State. Ultimately, Moore finished second in the final balloting behind FOY Seth Tuttle of UNI.

Why is the European post on this list? Do they think he will qualify?

I would add Marcus Marshall for Missouri State...he averaged 11pts 5rbs 5ast 3stls per game this summer on the trip to Costa Rica. He is the best high school guard we have gotten in a while and can play both guard spots.

Nevin Johnson, Creighton, is my choice. The kid will be a game changer at times this season.

I think the wrong Creighton player is listed. Andre Yates will probably get more playing time. It is going to be hard for Johnson to get minutes.

I voted for Thurman. Not only is he one of the most highly rated, but I expect him to get a ton of playing time immediately. I wanted him at CU, but he wouldn't have made it through admissions (not unlike Teddy Hawkins).

Why? I think outside of Ivy League he would have been admitted anywhere.

Well, obviously not.

Suffice it to say, admission requirements differ from school to school. There are kids that have played for MVC schools that could not get into Creighton, Drake, etc. A couple of years ago a kid played at WSU that another school (perhaps an SEC school?) said did not meet their academic admission standards. Thurman isn't the first and won't be the last.

I understand admission requirements, the kid has college prep and a high 20's ACT what does it take to make the cut at CU? P'Allen got in cant be that hard.

P'Allen, while being a royal malcontent and all around pain in the backside, was actually solid academically. Thankfully, academics doesn't factor in common sense or there would have been problems.
