Very much agree Ace Dad................a lot of water has passed under the bridge since he left Carbondale in the first place. It won't resemble the place he left.

It wasn't the same after Dana went to Arkansas for 24 hours and tried to come back.

+1,000,000

Different president, different AD, different expectations, different situation, different competition, different national landscape.

He certainly can do well, but I fear that this might be a mistake by both sides.

That things have changed doesn't necessarily mean it's not a good fit.

I always wondered that myself. Lowery is getting paid regardless. Why not bring Weber in as the head coach and have Lowery go back to an assistant.

Jabari Parkers father will probably be made an assistant coach. ;)

Now there's a great idea to insure success ??????????????????

I think Weber back to SIU could be a good thing for him, SIU, and the Valley. Some coaches just do better in settings like the MVC. He doesn't have to duplicate his previous success - just bring SIU back to respectability. They have nowhere to go but up.

I disagree that you can't go home. Our 23 year old son moved back home for the summer last year and it was almost like he never left. It was temporary but it was great while it lasted. Sure home and the people change but sometimes not that much. Could be the same for Weber at SIU.

There's an unsubstantiated report on Bearnation that Weber will not be returning to SIU.

And on another note my FIL was listening to our local sports talk show (Art Hains) and he (my FIL) said it was reported on the show that Barry Hinson was 2nd in line for the SIU position after Weber. He just caught the tail end of the show and wasn't sure if it was Art himself reporting this or some crazy caller who doesn't really know anything.

You look at what Weber did at Illinois, you look at what Painter is doing at Purdue - my question is who was the real brains behind the SIU dynesty? Was Weber only successful at SIU because he had an awesome #2 in Painter or was he going to succeed with or without him. Weber left for Illinois and Painter made SIU almost unbeaten the next year.

If Weber was the one who truly orchestrated it, you push hard for him to come home. If not, his price tag is too high in my opinion especially at SIU whose finances aren't the best.

I have to admit I am rooting for the return of Barry Hinson - I found myself rooting for that guy even as a Jays fan.

I'm rooting for Weber back to SIU. Hopefully he would be SIU's Bill Snyder, not their Dana Altman.
