Doesn't look like they will get one for the next 3 games although Tulsa is possible I guess. Their next predicted win would be @Alabama A&M although it's on the road (and why are they playing SWAC team on the road?).

We're young, but Lusk and staff have really struggled to put together any approach to a reasonably productive offense for about 15 games running now. He took a gamble that the young perimeter players would be ready enough to overcome the lack of any inside presence, but it's killing us offensively and tonight ORU abused us inside as we couldn't defend their frontline either. We are easily the worst team in the Valley on the bench right now; kids are gonna get better, gotta hope the coach does as well.

I had an enjoyable debate in the pre-season about the Bears lack of an inside presence. I presented the hypothesis that they would struggle due to their lack of size and quickness. I was wrong in that I was unable to predict that they would be this inept.

It will undoubtably be a long season for the Bears, but I am confident that the interior play will improve.

Does anybody know what Lusk's buyout is?

The product out there is simply unacceptable and does not live up to even our most meager standards. Last night we made a pedestrian ORU team look like a bunch of NBA lottery picks. I am tired of hearing how this year is some kind of process. You know just a step to getting us back to great basketball. In 2-3 years. That's pure garbage. Psychobabble.

Most people saw this season as a bit of a rebuilding year for our Bears. I had loftier aspirations based on the new guys and their accolades coming to MSU. No matter what any Bears fans standards are everyone should agree that this right here is not acceptable. Coach Lusk should have it made clear to him by AD Moats that he IS coaching for his job right now. The team needs to show growth in the next three months. If it doesn't get the heck out of town and enjoy sitting next to Matt Painter again.

To be clear I am not advocating on his firing at this time. But if things do not improve rapidly then I would feel no shame in doing it after two years. Our fans have not been vocal about the disappointments we are experiencing right now in men's basketball, women's basketball, and football. This has allowed AD Moats to feel like he can let his coaches coast. This shouldn't be the case. We need to see progress as fans and boosters. This is the Show Me State. They need to show us.

Casey,

Based on your recent history of prognostication, I would suggest you abandon all expectations and just watch. Perhaps you will be better for it in the future.

Unfortunately you were very much spot on. I think a lot of bears fans thought that Kirk and Wilson could adequately make up for the size differential because both are pretty athletic. But that just hasn't been the case. Kirk has been decent at times but hes been foul prone and inconsistent. Wilson is just a marvel athletically and is a very good rebounder but he has no offensive post game beyond put backs. And worst of all he cant make free throws.

Put a decent post player (with some size) on the bears and we'd be a different team. We have some talent but are too perimeter oriented and one dimensional.

Ill still be at all the games but its going to be a long season.

Casey none of the Bears coaches are "coasting?" That's ridiculous. All 3 are professional and hard working. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

I'm not happy with the way things are going either but Lusk deserves some time. Nyla seems to be turning things around. Ill agree with you that TA should be let go. But in his case its not a case of his work ethic - he just seems to make poor in game coaching decisions.

When I say coast this is what I mean: allowing ineptitude to continue without holding subordinates to a standard of excellence.

Do you or anyone else think that this is happening right now?

It's been almost 14 years since we were in the NCAA tournament in men's basketball. How long has it been since the women have made it? She completely wasted the four years of Casey Garrison. Completely. The football program is a joke. And not even like a bad why did such and such cross the road joke. More like a Dennis Miller joke when he was in the booth for MNF. Even baseball went eight years without a regional appearance before Guttin got back. Seemingly without any pressure from above for those years of failure.

Look man I don't know about you but I am tired. Tired of the excuses and "wait 'til next year" lines. If you aren't being vocal by posting your frustrations on message boards or contacting the AD then you are part of the problem in my book. Being apathetic and writing off massive failures as something that you just have to go through are doing nothing but enabling those in charge. Some of the men that we have in charge are good, family men. But that doesn't mean that they do not need to be held accountable.

At this rate there are going to be like 3,000 people at JQH by the end of the year. Probably about the same number as a football game next year. If that doesn't convince AD Moats that it is time to make changes then he is too far gone.

Your dang right I am frustrated. But at least I am vocal about it and don't enable Moats and friends to let this happen to us. We can take a stand. Do you think that WSU fans or Creighton fans would allow this level of basketball ineptitude?

Casey,

Who is holding you accountable in your predictions? I am seizing this opportunity to voice my disgust on a message board. This level of ineptitude can not be allowed to continue!

Hey pal. I admit when I am wrong. I have been wrong about numerous things, though I wills say that nobody will ever admit when I am right about something (Temple to Big East, ORU to Southland, and so forth). I was wrong about WSU. I thought your team lost a lot and was not overly impressed with the incoming kids. I thought you had a vagabond crew full of all sorts of transfers, JUCO kids, and high schoolers. Marshall has done a great job of meshing them together. You have every right to call me out on that one. I am accountable.

I can't come up with any statistical basis for it and the metrics will not bear this out at the moment but I still think we beat WSU in Springfield. Call it a hunch but at this point it would make our season.
