Money doesn't fix everything but it sure helps. Reinventing the wheel everytime you have success really makes things difficult. UNI has been very lucky so far, but at the same time, that could change quickly. Missouri State lost Cuonzo at the first offer out of town. if a team could spend money to keep a good coach just a few years longer, it sure helps the long-term success of a team.
Have you read the quotes from the time frame with TAMU and Jake? Following their meeting there were some high profile TAMU "insiders" saying the job was Jake's if he wanted it. Kennedy didn't get an offer until Jake called TAMU and told them he didn't want the job....before TAMU called either him or Kennedy to offer. That is turning a job down.
That is also the only job Jacobson has actually interviewed for. Both he and AD Dannen are on record as saying that Jake has refused to talk to, as many as a bakers dozen, BCS schools - many of whom were willing to offer about a milli.
I'm sure you won't believe anything I've just said, and I'm okay with that. However, Jake has proven time and time again that he isn't going to leap at the first sign of money. He is very happy in the Cedar Valley and it is going to take a very big time offer to get him out of here. TAMU is set to be a top 15-20 team next season and should be a S16 team at the very least.
