Offseason- Aces

Newspaper article says that Jordan Jahr received a medical redshirt and he now has 3 full years of eligibility. All we need now is a JUCO post player and the Aces may have a chance to make some noise in the upper echelon of the Valley next year.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

For my money, next year is a make or break year for the program and coaching staff. Stay out of Thursday night and its the third year of the past four to do so, a slow but positive step forward for the program. Fall into one of the bottom four slots and its 3 play in round appearances in 5 years for Marty and the yo-yo results continue.

UE will be one of the more experienced teams in the country with 4 four year seniors, one red shirt sophomore, and one true sophomore that started most of the games his freshmen year leading the way. Having last years conference leading scorer and first team all conference member return is also a plus.

One the recruiting front, UE picked up two all-state caliber guards in D.J. Balentine(Indiana) and Adam Wing(Kentucky) and a Nashville private league big man in David Howard. With one scholarship open and a JUCO big man the likely use of it, Howard could potentially be a red-shirt candidate if none of the three raising sophomore big men leave the program.

No doubt the loss of Holmes and Harris will hurt, but Jahr coming of an injury should help alleviate that pain.

UE did lose an assistant coach to Mississippi State in the off-season that still needs to be replaced.

The University recently broke ground on a new $3.3 million practice facility that should move the program closer to our peers in the conference in terms of facilities.

The major questions for UE going into the season are can they rebound and defend, the two major weaknesses from last year. If Sawvell can continue to improve in the offseason and the coaching staff can find a big man left out there that can contribute right away in the Valley(big if), look for UE to finish in the upper quarter of the league. If not, it could be a busy year for the scoreboard operator at the Ford Center.

Aces will have home games against Murray State, Butler, and Miami University next season. Also, according to UE's new beat writer, it is "likely" the Aces will play in the Notre Dame subregional in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament.
