Top 10 MVC players for 2012-13

The Top 4 are pretty clear cut (in my opinion). After that, it's pretty hard to separate the group.

Let’s start with the obvious.
1) Doug McDermott – Creighton
Consensus All-American and the reigning Larry Bird award winner. Potential pre-season national player of the year.

2) Colt Ryan – Evansville
Don’t be surprised if he leads the Valley in scoring this season.

3) Jackie Carmichael – Illinois State
If you recall my final ballot, I said Carmichael should have been a first teamer last season. He will be this year for sure.

4) Ben Simons – Drake
Amazing season in 2011-12 considering he battled mono. Is undoubtedly “the man” in Des Moines with Rice’s departure.

10 is tough and can't argue with who you have there but I sure would put Jarmar Gulley in the also considered category

No Shockers? Uh oh. Must be some sort of conspiracy by gods of the internet to keep all the WSU players off. j/k good job.

I would put Carmicheal at #2. Guys with good size/athleticism that can both score and rebound at a high level don't come around all that often. If I were drafting players to build my own team, I can't imagine a scenario where I would take Colt Ryan before Jackie Carmicheal.

I love JC but Colt was 1st team last year and Carmichael wasn't so that probably figured in.

Jackie Carmichael vs Colt Ryan is pretty darn close. You either get an elite shooting guard who also has good size and an ability to contribute on the boards and plays good defense OR you get a man--beast who uses his strength and size to his advantage as one of the league's best forwards. Valleychamp summed up JC pretty well, the thing is we haven't seen him as much as Colt Ryan these past 3 seasons but he has made big statistical improvements each of those seasons. Ryan has been a star for E'ville each year, playing 1000+ mins each season and has put up big numbers to show for it. Could you lose by taking either one??
[Insert snappy comeback]

Ryan is a lot more consistent than Carmichael. Even last year, there were times that Carmichael disappeared.

Odum> Simons. Even with being injured his team finished above simons. Also he didnt have anyone nearly as good as rice to draw attention away from him. Simons is a great shooter/scorer but thats it. Not a good passer, rebounder, or defender

I realize Bradley sucks and I don't think I'm a Bradley homer...that said, Walt Lemon, Jr. is one of the 10 best players in the league.
