Really well done article. I like it that Thurman is one of the top 5 mvc freshmen.

Khristian Smith will be a top 5 FOY for sure. He is two years removed from high school and has all the tools to become a big time player next season. Other than that I liked the article. Some really good honest insight on the teams. You can sort of tell from the article he feels as if its

Creighton

ill. state
Wichita state
UNI

Evansville
Indiana state

Drake
Missouri state

Southern and Bradley

The fact that Smith will be 18 months removed from competitive basketball before he plays his first D1 game would make it hard to select him for that list. I know he is highly skilled but D1 ball is as much about basketball skill as it is basketball IQ I hope the kid has put the intellectual effort on and off the court. Tge talent level has increased the leagues image needs to improve so that talent can be retained. It does the league no good to recruit high level players then lose them to transfers.

Is that really a surprise? I think it would have been more surprising if he wasn't on the list.

Thurman is my preseason pick for FOY.

He's probably my preseason FoY as well. Normally, I'd just go with the best recruit in conference, but Fred Van Vleet for Wichita State probably be third in the PG rotation, so not as much chance to get production.

No offense but I didn't say it was a surprise? Just that I liked the recognition.

I really like Thurman. I think he will be a heck of a player. Would have loved to have seen him in a WSU uniform. It is going to be even MORE annoying than ever when the Bears play in Wichita. They will have even more support for the next 4 years in Wichita thanks to Thurman.

I would say Thurman will be in the FOY mix as well. Helps that he has plenty of playing time he can earn. Van Vleet will have a hard time being FOY because WSU is pretty deep at guard. Now if we were talking NOY then I think WSU has some players with a real shot. (Early, Lufile, Wiggins, Armstead...)

Sorry about that; I didn't mean for my comments to sound so hostile.

I erroneously interpreted your comments as surprise.
