Today I began my positional rankings for the upcoming MVC season and started with the guards. I wanted to add Ben Simons, but Drake lists him as a forward.

I will rank the forwards and centers in the coming days.

Good list. If James can play the way he did the first half of last year I could argue he should be even higher. I think he's the key to us making the NCAA dance this year.

Your top two are interesting contrasts. Colt Ryan plays in the old Bobby Knight style motion offense where his team mates set endless picks and screens to get him open to shoot the ball. His team mates make him better.

On the other hand, Jake is a floor general who is an excellent passer. He can score but he really excels at finding the open man with adept passing. He makes his team mates better.

I think Jake is a better defender but that is just my opinion. When healthy, I think Jake is the best guard in the league.

Make no mistake about it, either one can play on my team.
