I voted for WSU. Why? 5 new starters and all the sudden everyone expects them to be in the top 4.....really?

WSU loses 5 starters and everyone expects them to still compete for a top spot, but ISU loses 1 Freshman starter and all the sudden it is armageddon for the program. Not that I don't like WSU, but too much love is being given from fans/media for the upcomming season. I give them a year to be in the middle and then they will be in contention the following again.

I don't see Armageddon for ISUr. What I see is a team that finished 9-9 in the MVC and lost its FOY PG and HC, but still returns a lot of talent. I see a team, that was one game away from play-in in St. Louis last year. I see a team that played top level basketball to end the season. I see a team that will finish between 5th and 2nd and that's about as good as it gets this year outside of CU.

Nobody is baiting. I gave an honest opinion. You really think Evansville's bigs are going to get the job done? How do they compare to guys like McDermott, Carmichael, Echineque, Tuttle, Hall, VanDeest, ect? I just don't see it.

And I don't understand why so many UE fans on here continue to devalue the loss of Denver Holmes. He was a huge part of that team his whole career, and I think the pairing of him with Colt was mutually beneficial for the both of them, and his absence will be noticeable this year.

Google Egidijus Mockevicius and see if you want to modify your comment about UE's lack of size. At 6-10 and playing on the European championship team he will fill our 5 spot. Plus he is 20 so he is not a freshman in age. We will see how he adapts to the American game and the Valley.

I think he will be good. I think the addition of the vicious twins moves Eville from 7th to 5th this year.

Gotta think that will be the case in Evansville as well as they have 4.

As for Phelps, I think he is 3-5 against Marshall, one game from 50-50.

In those 4 years in the Valley, Phelps is 12 games below .500, Marshall is 30 games above .500.

There is no comparison. That being said, I have no problem with picking WSU here. I think it will be a tossup, barring a really unusually early maturation process for WSU.

WSU has a chance this year to prove they matured beyond the MVC model and show they are a FRANCHISE. But there are alot of if's and buts that will have to come together.

"Delusion of grander" usually end once the season starts and you have to play a game.
