Why?

You should know. He wins here with less money and resources than elsewhere. I wouldn't trade him for anyone.

That sounds good, but recruiting is part of the head coach's job. You can't fail there and be the best coach IMO.

But, but.... I've been told OVER and OVER and OVER again that UNI's financial situation is fine! In fact, UNI posters had said UNI's financial situation is in the best position that it ever has been! I've been shouted down repeatedly for even bringing up finances! I've been told that a school's financial situation is irrelevant!

Now, NOW!!!!, a UNI fan cites the lack of money and resources as the justification for Jake being the "best coach in the valley bar none." Which is it!?! You can't have it both ways!

Shouldn't you have to make it out of the first round of the tourny to be considered for it? I like Jake as a person and a coach, but he's got to prove to me that he deserves the award.

Jacobson went to the sweet 16 and fielded some decent to very good teams. He's consistent and will win the award the next time he produces a first place team.

Unless SIU or Bradley come back from the dead and finish near the top, this award will go to whoever finishes in 1st place.
[Insert snappy comeback]

Not a chance. He's been doing about as good as you can hope for at UE. He's not going to be winning them MVC championships, but find me a coach who can at UE and he'll be at Duke or KU in a year.

If this were true, Jim Crews would be at Duke or KU instead of SLU.

He had one fluke year, not multiple MVC championships.

How do you win multiple championships when you are supposed to be gone in a year?
