Gregory Echenique as player of the year. Totally dominates. So much better than last year. Doug has another great season as well and willing to do whatever it takes to help CU have a monster season.

How do you know he's so much better than last year?

A very reasonable question. The correct answer would be, "at this point, we don't."

I think many CU fans are looking at two things when it comes to GE -

(1) He was playing like a beast at the end of last season after getting better all year; and
(2) in the Bluejay madness event, it was obvious to anyone present that he's lost about 10-15 lbs without losing any strength and is now a lot quicker, more agile and with more elevation than he had at the end of last season.

Of course, no one knows whether this automatically correlate to significantly improved play, but it does seem unlikely, even to the most conservative, that he will somehow be worse than he was at the end of last season.

My Echenique prediction comes from watching him play in the Bluejay madness event. So, much quicker on offense. Not nearly as methodical as last year. Still a beast on defense with much more quickness there as well.

You have to grade him against his competition level. ;)

Not with speed you don't, but I get what you are saying.

He did handle himself just fine against last year's all american center in the NCAA tourney (and that was before losing the extra weight).

Walt Lemon Jr should put up some big numbers this year so don't overlook him.
