Nice article about MSU's 2 redshirts

Good article about the Bears 2 redshirt freshmen. I've seen both in action and they are both kind of raw (especially Wilson) but both are impressive in different ways. We need both to step up. I think they will.

Is Williams in the hunt to start?

All indications are he's definitely in the hunt. Maybe even the probable starter at the point.

Kirk actually will be the center, and either Wilson or 6'7 frosh Thurman will probably start at the 4 spot. We're small with only 6'10 frosh Bruce Marshall above 6'7 this year, so our 4/5's are pretty interchageable. Just the way it will be until 6'11 Tyler McCullough joins Marshall next year.

A big time center would do wonders for MSU this year. Kirk is a good player and likely to be very good before all is said and done, but I don't see him as a top half MVC center this year.

Once you get past the "Big E" at CU, things are pretty uncertain in the Valley at the post. Kirk obviously doesn't have the size to combat a quality 6'10+ guy or a guy like the "Big E" at 260+, but I think he will more than hold his own against most of the 6'8-6'9 220-230 guys in this league. At close to 230 himself and with a 40" vertical he is deceptively athletic, and has a quietly well rounded game . I think many Bear fans expect Christian to put up around 11-12 ppg and 7 rbs this year, and then next year when he can play more at the 4 spot, show even more.

I agree he will be better next year at the four.

Look around the league. There aren't many 6-8 230 lb starting centers. That is closer to the SF size this year. Most are in the 6-9+ 250+ range. Offensively he will do fine against the big bodies with his athleticism speed, but he is likely to have trouble on the defensive end.

I guess I don't see those guys but at 1-2 schools; anybody that size besides at Drake or CU is a project. Most of the quality returning guys at EU/UNI/WSU/ISU are at best 6'9 230 if that.

We are definitely a little undersized. Its a concern. We wont match up well against CU at the 5 for sure. McCullogh does look like the real deal for 2013/2014.
