Starting to split hairs. We will see what happens. There have been successful centers at Kirk's size.

How is Gavin looking? I see he is officially listed at 6-6, 223. I'd have guessed 6-7, 215 when he left Wichita. Lots of athletic potential in Gavin. What are the early reports saying about his play in practice?

Will be able to tell more after Tuesday's 1st exhibition. Gavin is gonna play alot, maybe start at the 4 spot. He and Wilson are vying for time . Wilson is more the rebounding/defensive /high energy alternative. Gavin brings alot of offensive skills. When Gavin shows he can rebound and defend consistently, he will become a top level MVC player; he shoots the trey well, can drive and finish with both hands, and has some post up ability also. The 4th member of our "small " front court is 6'10 Bruce Marshall. He needs bulk and experience , but was a Parade AA whose strength right now is shooting the trey. It is what it is for us down low, but I think it's interesting that Lusk feels with those 3 frosh and soph Kirk added to next years 6'11 McCullough, the frontcourt is set and we aren't looking to add there in 2013.

Bradley: Will Egolf (6-9, 230) - 8 points, 4 boards
Creighton: Greg Echenique (6-9, 260) -10 and 7
Drake: Seth VanDeest (6-11, 270) - 9 and 4…also Clark
Evansville: The new frosh is 6-10, 225 but won't start. Moore is 6-7 and 230
Illinois State: Jackie Carmichael (6-9, 240) - 14 and 10…also Wilkins
Indiana State: RJ Mahurin (6-9, 225) - 7 and 2
Northern Iowa: Seth Tuttle (6-9, 255) - 9 and 5
Southern Illinois: Davante Drinkard (6-9, 235) - 4 and 2
Wichita State: Carl Hall or Orukpe or Lufile will start here. Orukpe and Lufile are both "projects" and Hall is only 6-8, 240 so he misses the criteria…

Kirk is 6-7, 225. He will be the smallest center in the league . He averaged 4 and 3 last year as a freshman. I think he will have a hard time defensively against the MVC starting centers over 6-9 and 235…of which there are 5. As to the 6-8 220 lb centers you spoke of…Kirk comes the closest at 6-7, 225 followed by Moore at 6-7, 230 and Hall at 6-8 240. Mahurin and Egolf squeeze in to the upper range at 6-9 225 and 6-9 230 respectively.

I only see a couple of those that are close to legitimate.Tuttle was 215 as a freshman, so if he's 255 now, he's been on steroids[ the official UNI roster has him at 6'8,225]. Mahurin is a perimeter shooting 3/4[ the ISU roster lists him at 225] .Egloff has a few inches but no weight on Kirk. Drinkard is injured and only a marginal guy at best anyway. Moore and Hall are guys Kirk matches up with well. Like I said,I don't see it excpept at a couple places.

Tuttle is listed at 221. He put a good amount of weight on from last year, and I can tell you he is built larger than last year - still on the slender side for what I'd like to see him at though.

UNI also has Olivier at 6'8/6'9 250 and Pehl at 6'10 265, along with Jake Koch at 6'9 255

Pehl could be 7'3 and 300 lbs of muscle and I'd guess his numbers wouldn't increase much. I just wish he knew how to use his body. I don't mean to be overly negative but it's just frustrating to see that size not put to good use. Austin is a great kid but he's simply an average player.

Agreed...but he is good as banging down low for a couple minutes a game....
