IMO, there is just no chance in hell that he will leave early. He has got it made right now, in an absolute ideal situation in college. No reason to leave that behind, he is a lock to stay 4 years.

I think he will end up being a late 1st-early 2nd round draft pick. His name will be too big to not to be drafted. Whether he makes it in the NBA will depend on his defense and shooting. He will have to carve out a niche by playing defense and making jump shots, because he wont be able to play the way he is right now in the NBA. His size is the main issue for him, if he was 6'10 he would be a top 5-10 pick. Doug is such a unique player, I don't know if there really is an apt comparison out there.

McDermott won't be going in the NBA draft this year. If he goes next year, it will probably not be to play the same role he plays in college. The NBA is so much about athleticism that he may not have a role (defensively more than offensively), though I think he might have a shot as a perimeter shooting specialist.

I don't watch enough NBA to know whether Doug is a prime prospect or not.

I do know that the exact same criticisms made against Doug in this thread were made about Korver. For those who may not know, Korver's been in the league for a decade.

It's also been said that if Doug can become Korver he can stay in the league.

Also, the only reason Korver is in the NBA is because of his 41% 3 point percentage...If that was closer to 33/35 he is bouncing around the league a lot faster than he is now - and might be out of the league. He is a terrible defender (one blog I read has the "Kyle Korver Hall of Fame of Bad Defense" for plays where a player gets clowned).

More college press and deep runs do not make a NBA player. The trick will be what NBA position can Doug guard and play? Is he a 3? Is he a 4? Or is he just a player good enough to play? I think he gets a chance based on his offensive skills and playmaking.

I disagree, look at Jimmer Fredette. Mid-major player who put up great numbers and got a TON of publicity. You can't tell me that didn't help him get lottery pick status even though now we can see he wasn't lottery pick talent....

He can also shoot from anywhere on the court at any time with anyone in his face....or at least could in college.

He also holds the all time single season 3pt shooting % record.

And, for the record, pay me $5M a year for 10+ years and I don't care how many sites there are clowning on me!

Last I checked, there are no UNI players in the NBA either....

Enjoy him while he's there. I don't think he'll be a great pro but I sure think he wants to get there so who knows if he leaves until a decision is made.

This.

He will be nothing more than Adam Morrison in the pros - I'd take that, FWIW.

Doug will get drafted because he will have a "name" and a roster spot will be needed....

According to Basketball Reference, Morrison has been paid $16.9MM so far in his career. That is actually ALL that matters in the end.

After the end of the 2011 NBA lockout (Mike) Dunleavy signed a 2 year, 7.5 million dollar contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. :Bam:

Doug will be a Multi-Millionaire.
