Drake @ Detroit 11/17

First real test of the season for the Bulldogs.

Chris Hines, expected to be the starting '2' might get some minutes after missing the exhibition game and season opener with a knee injury.

Big key for Drake will be the play of Richard Carter. It's his first game against D1 competition, and he's up against a real good one in McCallum. Also, he's playing in his home-town for the first time in 3 years. I could potentially see him having problems if he tries to do too much.

Bulldogs were 15-24 from 3-point range in their exhibition.....and again in their season opener against William Jewell. If they can shoot anywhere close to that in this game, I like their chances against a very good Detroit team.

If they shoot like that all season they'll play in the NCAA tourney.

This is a big one. Detroit is the defending Horizon champ and I expect them to compete for the title again. Could be a really nice pelt for Drake.

I've always liked Drake teams under Phelps. Hopefully this is the year they win!

Drake made a great comeback run to bring it within 2 with a minute to play. Lost by 4.

Drake is probably going to have a hard time winning many games when Simons goes 4-13.

Shoot. I really wanted this one.

Bulldogs cut a 13 point lead with about 3 minutes left to 2 with 46 seconds. DU's press really bothered Detroit. When they got the lead down to 2, they decided to take off the press......and McCallum hit an off-balance fadeaway 18 footer at the end of the shot clock to make the lead 4 with about 12 seconds left....Detroit scored another meaningless bucket after that.

Tough to win on the road against a good team when Simons only goes 4-13 from the field and the team misses 12 free throws.

Good effort. A lot of promising things. Young guys need to grow up quick, and the team needs to make free throws. Lots and lots of mistakes due to inexperience.

Clarke led the way with 17 points, 10 rebounds.

It sounds like the Drake made a good come back. It is too bad they couldn't pull it out. This would have been a good win for the Valley.

Good battle to get back into it. 12 missed free throws? Ouch.

Good luck in Cali.
