Really bad day for the Valley although nothing really unexpected except maybe MSU getting blown out at home again. Close losses to good teams which seems to be the theme for the MVC this year count for nothing coming March. I really only see two teams (CU/WSU) having a shot at an at-large w/ISUR maybe getting consideration if they finish first in Valley play.

IDK if anyone posted this already, but apparently Deon Mitchell has a foot bruise that caused him to miss the past week of practice and tonight's game. Not sure when it happened..must have been some time down in Atlantis. Hopefully we can get him back by the George Mason game next Saturday at the latest, we're lacking a starting-caliber point guard without him.

UNI managed past Milwaukee, who returned their leading scorer from last year for his first game of the year tonight (he had 24). 4 UNI Panthers in double figures led by Nate Buss with 17 off the bench. UNI had 15 assists to only 6 turnovers without Mitchell but the game was closer than it needed to be, missed some easy shots, didn't rebound as strongly as we need to. But back on the winning side of things.

I read through MVCfans blog on the December 1 games and it was pretty spot on. What we learned is that, as a conference, we are close but time is running out.

Thanks.. it's going to be interesting. The Valley is getting a lot of good publicity, but close losses aren't going to help when the committee meets in March to create the bracket. We need to get some wins soon.
