SalukiTalk saying goodbye

Not sure this should go here, but since most of the traffic is in the basketball forum, I thought it would get the most traffic here.

It was announced today, that sometime between Christmas and the new year, SalukiTalk will shut down for the final time.

Just thought you guys would like to know.

Any reason given? Expense? Cesspool?

It's not easy to maintain an orderly board. It's never a good day when an avenue for fans to discuss their team goes away. I'm sure another will pop up, but SalukiTalk was an established board.

Too bad for SIU fans, IMO.

I can imagine the time and effort it takes to run a message board, especially a highly active one like SalukiTalk. I just don't understand why somebody else can't just take it over? Is it that difficult to transfer rights of the board to someone else?

I agree. It's easily the most entertaining Valley board out there. Well, now was.

Hate to see SalukiTalk go. The SIU posters there were the most clever and entertaining group in the Valley.

Say it ain't so, Old Band Dude!

That board is the best and most entertaining of all of the Valley boards. I've met a few of the mods there and they were incredibly gracious when I went to a game in Carbondale.

Sorry, 2J. It is true.

I think there will be something that will come back in it's place. As most mods will tell you, it can get tiring after doing this for a number of years. We had a nine-year run. A pretty good one, at that.

But, we'll see you in St. Louis in March. Got a breakfast place that you need to try out. Plus, you need to see the new setup in the Arena before you guys move on to another conference.
