My hope is overall conference respect has grown.
I beleive the conference is so competitive, the beating up on each other will happen like never before. I think it could easily be one of those years when the perceived conference leaders changes drastically through the year.

If Creighton has a great year and the rest beat up on each other as I suspect, its possible for a 2 bid, if there is a different tourney winner. No doubt Creighton has the edge, can they always win on the road and not allow upsets at home?

I disagree.

CU

WSU/Ill ST

The field

The question is how much separation will there be between the third and 4th place team, and will any team separate themselves as THE 4th place team. Of course WSU could have continuing injury problems that push them to "the field" and Indiana State, UNI or another team could pop up. Should be a fun season for everyone other than MSU.

Indiana State needs to win at least 13 conf. games to be considered for an at-large. We are definitely huge Morehead St. fans from here on out.

The UNI/Indiana State game on the 2nd is huge, especially if UNI can go get a win in Wichita against a banged up Shocker team.

I'm glad the game is in Cedar Falls!

I expect a clump of teams near .500 with only Drake and MSU losing more than 11 games. Should be consistent with two or three bids.

To get a "bubble-worthy" RPI (40ish), here is the record that each Valley team needs:

Bradley: 17-1
Creighton: 12-6
Drake: 17-1
Evansville: 15-3
Illinois State: 13-5
Indiana State: 13-5
Missouri State: 18-0 gets them to about 80. Odds of going 4-14 or better = 2%. Odds of going 0-18 = 30%
Northern Iowa: 14-4
Southern Illinois: 15-3
Wichita State: 11-7

For a REAL chance (30 or lower), You'd need this:

Bradley: 18-0
Creighton: 14-4
Drake: 18-0
Evansville: 16-2
Illinois State: 15-3
Indiana State: 15-3
Missouri State: N/A
Northern Iowa: 16-2
Southern Illinois: 16-2
Wichita State: 12-6

You seem to put a lot of stock in that site. Seems pretty speculative to me. It isn't just your own record that determines RPI - it is the record of your opponents and your opponents' opponents.

RPI's and SOS for all 10 teams prior to conference play starting, from Warrennolan

WSU 13 66
CU 16 40
ISUr 43 60
ISUb 51 35
UNI 109 46
UE 158 140
SIU 161 308
BU 179 276
DU 181 139
MSU 332 194

MVC's conference RPI moved into 8th place barely in front of the SEC, though it has been pointed out on here in another thread that that is not likely to hold. Most other conferences still have a handful of non-conference games prior to starting conference play after New Year's.

Look at the sky-high RPI of the Mountain West ... #2, behind the B1G.

Now look at the MVC's record in the MVC-MWC challenge, and think of what could have been. :Violin:
