Gotta go with the consensus SIU and Mo St. And then Drake and UE. Only reason Bradley not in there is the 2-0 start.

But if that happens, maybe we get to watch the others fight their way in. I guess 08 was the last time seeing that situation.

Although I do remember a positive Thurday night moment....when Josh Young nailed one with about a second left over SIU.

I'm certain that Coach P will manage to deplete that energy as the season progresses so prepare for Thurs night.

Tiebreakers? Is that what was used last year so five mediocre teams could claim they finished third?

Two thumbs up, way up.

Am I detecting mucho gloom here?

Fans for half of the conference teams seem overly pessimistic.

Maybe we should have a thread, which is entitled "Improving Teams" or something similar. Indiana State would be on that list. Maybe the Shockers, given the preseason predictions. Maybe Bradley, which is 2-0.

Mucho painful in bulldog land watching our players regress under Phelp's coaching and losing mucho fans the past 5 years. Maybe it's the master plan to lower expectations and move to non-scholarship basketball, focus on the academics for the Harvard of the Midwest...

I know everyone is excited for conference ball, but it is way too early to tell at this point who is playing on Thursday. Bradley at 2-0 doesn't tell me much of anything since there is so much season left. Let's bump this thread in 3 weeks.

It's not the Misery Valley for nothing.

My current projections:

10. MSU (3-15)
8/9 (TIE) Drake/SIU (6-12)
7. Bradley (8-10)

And yes, I'm being generous with MSU's record, giving them home wins over Drake and Evansville.

In a way, this is good for Drake hoops - Phelps obviously needs to leave. Other than maybe last year, he has really underachieved with the supposed talent he has. Very inconsistent teams from year to year is what's been consistent with Phelps.
The Bulldogs can move forward with the next hire.
