Mid-Season Predictions

Postby pafan » January 27th, 2013, 8:40 pm

I'll start with mine:

1. Wichita State: 16-2
2. Creighton: 15-3
3. Indiana State: 11-7
4-T. Evansville: 9-9 (EVAN leads head to head 1-0)
4-T. Northern Iowa: 9-9
6-T. Missouri State: 7-11 (currently 3-0 in round robin w/ IlSU & DU)
And the Invitations to Drake Night at ScottTrade Center belong to...
6-T. Drake: 7-11
6-T. Illinois State: 7-11
9. Bradley: 6-12
10. Southern Illinois: 3-15

I forsee one more loss for each of WSU and CU. WSU loses at CU, CU loses at ISUb.

very fair projection

Shox deserve the first place consideration

Illinois St could be the upside wildcard and finish as high as 4th IMO.

SIU is a lock for 10th, Bradley & Drake are almost certain locks for 8th & 9th.

1 - tie - Creighton
1 - tie - Wichita State
3 - Indiana State
4 - Evansville
5 - Northern Iowa
6 - Illinois State
THURSDAY NIGHT TEAMS
7 - Missouri State
8 - Bradley
9 - Drake
10 - Southern Illinois

My prediction is that CU takes another loss - my guess is at either Indiana State or Northern Iowa (would be huge if CU could win both those road games), and Wichita State stumbles on the road somewhere (at Illinois State or Indiana State). Then I see Creighton rebounding at the end of the season and beating WSU on their home floor to force a regular season tie between the two teams - which would only be fitting. I predict ISU-blue is a solid #3 pick and will be an "outside" bubble team come tourney selection time, with Evansville and Northern Iowa being a toss up for #4-#5 and competing for possible NIT bids.

Also I see Illinois State getting itself back together in the 2nd half of Valley play, and rising out of the "Thursday Night" bunch and I see Bradley falling back somewhat - Missouri State\Bradley\Drake are a pick 'em in my mind - just went with my best guess for #7-#8-#9 there.

JAYS...........15-3
SHOX..........15-3
TREES........13-5
ACES.........12-6
BIRDS........9-9
DAWGS.......9-9
BRAVES.....8-10
UNI.............8-10
BEARS.......5-13
SIU.............4-14

I know, the math is probably off, but, oh well.
It's close to what I began the season with, just tweaked it a bit.

Shocks have 6 pretty tough or very tough games remaining.

@CU
@Ill State
@UNI
@Indiana State

I cannot imagine that WSU will only lose 1 or 2 games in that bunch.

I don't have the schedule in front of me, but the Shox already lost to Indiana St at Koch.

1. Creighton 14-4, loss will come at either UE, UNI, or Bradley
2. Indiana St. 13-5, i think they will beat Shox, but loose a random remaining game
3. Wichita St. 12-6
4. Evansville 10-8, will get CU or ISUb IMO
5. Northern Iowa 10-8
6. Bradley 9-9, struggle on road
7. Illinois St. 7-11, talent is there
8. Drake 7-11
9. Missouri St. 6-12
10. Southern Illinois 3-15, but then again they beat WSU, and ISUb
GENO!
