@Pg_Benson: RT @GoodmanESPN: Minnesota coach Richard Pitino dismisses junior guard Zach Lofton from the program. Illinois State transfer.

I knew this guy was a head case. I'm glad ISU got rid of him when we did so we could use that roster spot on potential! Not gonna say I told you so but....

I'm guessing "realized marginal talent wasn't worth cancerous attitude and multiple years of scholarship spots"

Zach Lofton was a cancer for the ISU program. Not surprised he's now officially gone at Minnesota. No head coach wants to deal with an absolute headcase.

It's addition by subtraction for the Redbirds.

Wufan, this comes from the Pantagraph:

The Minneapolis Star Tribune said Lofton participated in Minnesota’s open scrimmage on Sunday and “was seen arguing with teammates and apparently snapped at a couple times (by coaches) for his poor body language.”

That sounds awfully familiar...

I can only find one year of stts for Lofton, and that ws 2013-14. Is that ll he played t IlSU? That would make him one of Muller's recruits.

A headcase who hits 34% from the field, under 30% from 3 - nice recruiting, Dan.

Some would say it is a good move to admit he was a mistake after 1 year instead of doing like some coaches & keeping them in hopes of fixing while negatively affecting the team. Apparently, the player was talent enough to be given a scholarship by a B1G school. At times attitude is more important than talent. Coaches take this risk all the time. Some times is pans out. Some times it doesn't. Pretty low risk to try for just 1 year though.

You may want to have the "A" key on your computer looked at, rgh.

By the time Lofton left, we were all pretty happy to see him go. At the same time, if you had watched him play, I think you would have come away thinking he was a terrific athlete, even if the stats did not always show it. Unfortunately, at Illinois State, due to our recent history of mediocrity, we are arguably in a position where we have to take some chances like this.
