Nice honors for Cle and Fred. Early also one of 10 Wooden All-Americans.

This announcement makes Early a consensus 2nd-Team All-American. Very cool.

There is no consensus 3rd-Team All-American, but if there was, FVV would be on it, based on the point scheme used. He has set himself up to earn a heck of a lot of accolades during his career.

Was this based on the game against Kentucky? Van Vleet was the better player during the year and should have been ahead of Early IMO.

I think it was very much a toss-up between these two players. The AA lists and PoY Finalist lists seem to reflect that, with some valuing FVV more, and some valuing Early more.

As good as FVV is, and as good of a season as he had, I think some of his success is attributable to Early. You can make a similar argument in the reverse, but Early presents match-up scenarios that very, very few in the country could deal with, given the combination of his athleticism and skill-set.

It's close. I'm okay with it going either way.

Same with the MVC POY award. Could have easily gone to Early as well. I think he could have very easily put up ridiculous numbers all year long if he was more selfish and in a different system than Marshall's. The fact that he was putting up those numbers, in Marshall's system, is very impressive.

First WSU player under Marshall to average over 14 ppg, and he was well, well above that. Second player under Marshall to ever average over 15 ppg, and I think the fourth over 14 ppg.

It's close, but the benefit of the doubt will go with the senior.

Also....who was the most gameplanned player in the valley?? It was Early.

Early, IMO, should have been Valley POY. That's just me.
