Something is wrong in Chicago. This turnover rate is making IlSU look, well, Normal.

And the 6-7 kid is Tanner Williams who has bigtime knee/leg issues.

I really liked Nick Osborne. He was a stud physically.

I guess if you finish last you gotta do something.

Who has transferred from Loyola? I haven't been to their board in quite some time.

Pickett, Johnson, O'Leary, Osborne, and King.

According to the roster, that would leave them with no players 6'8" or taller, and only one at 6'7".

Ugh! SIU is going to TOWER over Loyola… :o

siudawgs wrote:SIU fans are pretty optimistic about the four newcomers coming in next year. All are high schoolers, three have signed already (Armon Fletcher, Jordan Caroline, Chaz Glotta), one has verbaled (Deion Lavender). There's a chance SIU will sign someone else during the spring period ... technically they're out of scholarships, but there are rumblings Mike Balogun likely won't be back. A much, much worse scenario would be Anthony Beane and his dad leaving town as a package deal ... hopefully not, that would be a huge setback to the rebuild. Aside from the four prep newcomers listed below, lightning-quick but small point guard KC Goodwin redshirted this year and Illinois transfer Ibby Djimbe sat out. Djimbe is a 6-8 bruiser who, along with Bola Olaniyan, should give SIU one of the most physically imposing (though offensively challenged) frontlines in the MVC. Anyway:

Armon Fletcher, 6-5 forward from Edwardsville, Ill. Top player on team that finished fourth place in Illinois' biggest high school class. A very rangy, athletic wing who should be an excellent defender and high-energy player. Has some offensive game but probably will initially be more effective defensively and as an energy guy.

Jordan Caroline, 6-6 forward from Montverde Academy in Florida via Champaign. A burly, undersized power forward who started on arguably the best prep school team in the country. Put up decent but not great numbers on a roster loaded with high-end talent. Is expected to add sorely needed depth to the frontcourt and be ready to help right away based on high level of competition at Montverde. Is son of former Illinois/NFL football player Simeon Rice.

Chaz Glotta, 6-1 guard from suburban St. Louis. Combo guard who scored more than 2,000 points in his high school career. Mostly a shooter but can score in other ways, too. A coach's son. Excellent free throw shooter ... I'm sure Barry has long-term visions of Blake Ahearn. Probably most likely of newcomers to redshirt based on position/body type.

Deion Lavender, 6-4 guard from Alton Marquette High in Illinois, near STL. Late-bloomer who scored like crazy as a senior, albeit against lesser competition than others in this recruiting class. Not supremely athletic but a big guard who is a very good shooter and has a strong scorer's mindset. Was AAU teammate of Armon Fletcher.

A newsy day for the Salukis today. It was reported that Marcus Fillyaw and Mike Balogun won't be back, and they got a verbal from a 6-8 kid from a prep school in Texas. One more scholarship remains open.

Well, with 1 scholarship left to give, which everyone at Bradley is hoping goes to Rivals #80 Cunningham who has been expected to make his decision next week for about the past 5 weeks, this is what Bradley's class looks like on paper. The frontcourt comes in pretty decorated, and the backcourt has some guys who should improve our shooting percentages at least, plus a JUCO AA to run the point. Ford went heavy on the JUCOs so let's hope they mesh well.

Mike Shaw, PF
6'8 230 Jr
2011 Rivals #59
Offers out of high school: Marquette, Illinois, Notre Dame, West Virginia, DePaul
Offers upon announcing transfer: Tennessee, DePaul

Transfer from Illinois, where he played sparingly. Played on Mac Irvin Fire with Taylor and Morgan.

Jermaine Morgan, PF/C
6'8 210 Jr
Offers out of high school: Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado State, LaSalle
Offers out of JUCO: Washington State, New Mexico initially; Florida State, Florida Gulf Coast after decommitting from Wazzu

Committed to Wazzu, but was released from LOI once Ken Bone was fired. Played on Mac Irvin Fire with Taylor and Shaw. Averaged 9 points and 8 rebounds at Moberly JUCO while shooting 58% from the field and 74% on FT.

Kendahl Amerson, SG
6'3 180 Jr
Offers: Gonzaga, UNLV

Spring signee. Averaged 18 points and 3 rebounds at Utah State-Eastern JUCO, shooting 40% from 3 and 69% on FT.

Tramique Sutherland, PG
5'11 175 Jr

Signed with Bradley in the fall. I can't find any info on offers. Finished the season 2nd nationally in JUCO in assists and steals, so it's probably a good thing Ford signed him when he did. Honorable Mention JUCO All American. Averaged 19 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals playing for Hill College, with 4 triple doubles. Shot 44% from 3 and 75% on FT.

Warren Jones, PG/SG
6'3 190 Jr
Offers: EIU, WIU

Spring signee. Averaged 17 points and 4 rebounds at Southeastern Iowa JUCO, shooting 41% from 3 and 74% on FT.

Donte Thomas, SF/PF
6'6 205 Fr
Offer: Kent State

Signed in the fall and was injured his senior season at Thornwood. Averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds his junior year at Thornwood.

UE recruits include:

Vincennes University Juco Willie Wiley, a 6-7 sophomore power forward, 13.4 ppg
“He’s just a long 6-7 kid who can really shoot it from 16-17 feet,” said VU Coach Todd Franklin. “He can get off the floor. He’s a good kid and a good student. He’s going to do well. He will play well at the next level, I don’t have any doubt.”

Also Juco from Arizona Taylor Stafford - 6' 1" SG, Eastern Arizona College, Thatcher, AZ (24.3 ppg)
3PT: 82-197
3PT Pct: 41.6%

also eligible 2014 is Mislav Brzoja 6'4" guard that transferred from Villinova last year.

University of Nebraska's Sergej Vucetic 7'1" sophomore transfer will be available Fall 2015

UE has lost Freshman Guard Tyler Ptacek, who will transfer and Rokas Cesnulevicius 6'8" Forward will no longer play but will remain with the team. He has receive a medical exemption due to an ATV accident in 2012. He did play in 2011-12, 2012-13 in limited playing time but not 2013-14

Geno lands another top 100 player to add to his 2014 class, to go along with a JUCO All American PG and a center and SG with big time offers. I know there are no guarantees, but this class is a grand slam on paper!

Nice add. Looks like a heck of a class. Wish it had happened a year earlier for Geno, but hopefully he can get it turned around, FAST.

I can't believe he picked Bradley.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hi ... 6358.story

From the article: He said the decision came down to Bradley and Indiana. Oklahoma, Creighton, Iowa State, DePaul and Minnesota also offered him a scholarship.
