At least it appeared that way to me.

Players that have left since Mueller has been the coach:
Bryant Allen-Drugs
Zeke Upshaw- Transfer Hofstra
Jon Ekey- Transfer Illinois- Did not play "really well" against B1G Schools
Johnny Hill- Transfer Tex-Arlington
Jordan Threloff- Transfer Northern IL
Kaza Keane- DII player at best
Nick Zeisloft- 6'4" forward who can't dribble but makes an occasional 3
Zach Lofton- Horrible Attitude. Horrible Shot Selection. Had maybe 8 good games all year.
!

These assesments and opinions are through RedBird tinted lenses. Drank too much Jim Jones kool-Aid.

John Ekey, played well for an undermanned illinois team, RedBirds could have used his services this season.
Kaza- Can and probably will play D1 ball
Zeke- went from averaging 7mins a game with the Birds, to average 20ppg for Hofstra.
Hill- Solid PG and player, Muller couldn't seem to get along with(like others).
Lofton- started the season very innefficient, grew as a player, contributed very much to many wins. Could have contributed more and we could have won more had he gotten minutes. (He and Muller couldn't get along either)
that was the most inconsistant thing with him this year was minutes.

You can add Tyler Brown and threloff to the list of players Muller could not get along with(although he was not a Muller recruit)

Zeisloft is going Ivy League, for education and pt.
Lofton is getting a variety of BCS interest.
I'm willing to bet Kaza can be servicable at a D1 program.

any of the links below show these players contributing this season, I would have loved to see them continue at ISU. I wish them all the best, Go Birds.

I know every team thinks its "addition by subtraction" at the end of every season but not all those guys were stiffs.

The minute guys transfer or graduate they already become lesser players in the eyes of that teams fans.

I'm going to say Reggie Lynch could have posted the same numbers against that level of competition. Eastern Michigan? Buffalo? Kent State? Those teams would get dominated in the valley. The one Valley team Threloff played... he scored 3 points. Reggie as a freshmen avg 8.3ppg, 4.8rpg, & 2.8 bpg. I'll take 3 more years of eligibility over 1.

As for the inside issues, Reggie & Threloff are both centers. They wouldn't be able to play at the same time. Threloff did not want to be a backup so there was no way he was staying.

The MAC was actually just one spot behind the MVC in the RPI this season.

1 Big 12 0.5811 0.5781 1 10
2 Big Ten 0.5741 0.5707 2 12
3 Pacific-12 0.5686 0.5653 3 12
4 Big East 0.5634 0.5600 4 10
5 Atlantic Coast 0.5589 0.5592 5 15
6 Atlantic 10 0.5556 0.5490 7 13
7 Southeastern 0.5513 0.5540 6 14
8 American Athletic 0.5454 0.5420 8 10
9 West Coast 0.5346 0.5321 9 10
10 Mountain West 0.5266 0.5285 10 11
11 Missouri Valley 0.5117 0.5132 11 10
12 Mid-American 0.5098 0.5083 12 12

EMU and Buffalo were both top 100 teams, which only 3 teams in the MVC could say.

Your Videos show highlights.... but don't show the low lights. What about Kaza Keane's inability to shoot or his ability to turn the ball over? Lofton played well in some games but some games he checked out. His shot selection was a killer for any type of offensive tempo. I thought Zeisloft was a great contributor but he isn't going to play on a contender. Not these knocking these guys. I appreciate anyone who puts on a Redbird jersey but I think these items I pointed out are a pretty clear scouting report. & trust me.... I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid because over at the Redbird board they think the world is over because we "lost" these guys. Some body even said give Stacho a scholarship?!?!? This isn't everyone gets a trophy, kids!

I think you just proved my point.... I said the Valley conference is better than the MAC. Sooo.... I guess thanks?!?

You said the top teams in the MAC would get "dominated" by the Valley. Which just doesn't look true. The gap between the MVC and the MAC this year was about the size of WSU being a Top 5 team instead of a Top 25-40 team. So, I guess maybe the MAC would've been "dominated" by WSU, just as the Valley was, but I'm not sure much of the rest of your argument stands up.

Here is what I said:
"I'm going to say Reggie Lynch could have posted the same numbers against that level of competition. Eastern Michigan? Buffalo? Kent State? Those teams would get dominated in the valley."

Eastern Michigan & Kent State were not top teams in the MAC. Buffalo was the 3rd best team. I believe my statement that the level of competition being lower the the MVC is historically & currently accurate based on those RPI numbers. You are correct that if the top team in a conference is not included then a conference is weaker.

For those of you touting Threloff as a great player, let's see how he did against valley competition. Loyola game: 3pts 7rebs 2 blks. Lynch v. Loyola avg 9pts 4rebs 2.5blks. Reggie Lynch led the MVC & was 4th in the nation in blocks as a freshman. Threloff wasn't in the top 150. Once again if my options having Threloff stay or having Threloff transfer & have Lynch as a 4 year starter, I'll take Lynch.

Please don't lump me in with random fandom. I didn't like Threloff while he was on the team. Any other players I have mentioned, I haven't really cared too much for either. If Reggie Lynch left, I would be unhappy he left but I still think he could be successful.
