I've seen two beat writer predictions (Springfield and Evansville). Both projected The Aces third. I'm not seeing it yet, but no doubt I could be wrong. After WSU, UNI has to be the most likely to succeed, then it gets real messy again. Both ISUs, MSU can compete for that second spot. SIU, BU, and UE could all be propelled into the top half or play Thursday. DU and LUC look improved, but also look like a lock for the Thursday.

I think the big difference this year is that the tier 3 teams don't look like Thursday night teams. They appear to be much improved.

In his defense we have no idea how much of a gap he is putting between some of those teams. By his own admission it's a completely wide open conference after the first few spots and we all know that those will be contested as well. Just because he has SIU above ISUr and Loyola doesn't mean he thinks SIU will finish several games above those teams, he may not even think they'll have a better record. He simply believes that SIU has what it takes to earn a higher final seed for the MVC tournament. I won't say that I agree but I can see where he's coming from. It's a total crapshoot to be honest.
[Insert snappy comeback]

Who knows. But this was funny.

"The Valley is going to be better. Really. Somebody might even beat Wichita State."

I'm most curious about Evansville. I think they finally added the pieces they needed to add. Time to find out if Simmons can coach at all. I do think they'll have the talent to compete for 3rd. They'll also probably go 5-7 in the non-con, so I'm pretty stoked about that.

I don't think he can. UE will improve but I think their still fighting to get out of Thursday.

If UE is fighting to stay out of Thursday:

1. The league is WAAAYY better than I think it's going to be.
2. Evansville has been hit with a ridiculous rash of injuries.
or
3. Marty Simmons is one of the worst coaches in the NCAA.

For UE to finish 1-6 and stay out of thursday they better have some new offensive sets, it seemed like all they did last year was have ballentine come off of screens or ball screens and shoot just about every time. They would throw it in to mockevicous but not enough if you ask me. If it's still a two man show they will finish somewhere 7-10. Need some other scoring options. After WSU pretty much 2-7 is up for grabs, although i'd say UNI is 2nd best team

My hope is that someone besides the Shockers wins 14 games and that the Valley as a whole as a solid non-con season.
