I'm not even going that far. I just want to give Mark Adams a little bit of substance to his bluster about how awesome the Valley is.

Keeping Wichita probably is #1 at this point. It's a delicate time for the MVC, and losing Wichita would probably be a death blow.
Beyond that, obviously some programs needs to pick it up, big-time, to help make up for Creighton's loss and get back to multiple bids. I think SIU and Bradley are two programs capable of doing that over the next couple years.

Someone has to fill the role they left, a name you can associate with good basketball in the MVC.

Northern Iowa seems like the most likely candidate, but they'll have to start earning NIT appearances, at least, to get their mojo going again.

Interesting thing about CU. They had a knack for winning the MoVal tournament and then doing NOTHING in the NCAA tournament. By winning the MoVal tournament, they often hurt the MoVal by keeping a better team from reaching the NCAA tournament which thus resulted in less overall recognition.

CU's recognition often came from the attendance figures which many seats were cheap or given away to corporate sponsors. In fact their revenue from seats were less than Wichita State whose arena holds 7,000 less.

Besides WSU, the MoVal needs BU to step up. Having a lot of success from LUC would help too ( media market, former natl champ, etc... )

Someone found an ad for ticket sales at CLink last year. The last 5,000 - 7,000 seats were going for $6, which is the handling charge for ticket sales at CLink.

With UNL (Nebraska) trending up in BB and playing in the B1G, and CU trending down, CU could be hard pressed to maintain their attendance figures even with essentially free tickets.

Creighton sold something like 14,500 season tickets last season, so they would not have the seating capacity at the arena to "give away" an additional 5,000-7,000 tickets at $6 each.

Those 5,000 - 7,000 seats were actually "sold" - for $6 - all of which went to the ticket handling agency at CLink.

So, Creighton sold 19,500 -21,500 tickets to multiple games last year even though the largest attendance for the year was 19,000?

Meanwhile upper bowl seats were going on stubhub for premium prices, meaning Creighton was knowingly selling 5,000 - 7,000 tickets for $6 that were worth multiples of that?

Must be true. I heard it on the internet. Creighton better step up their math and business programs.

Back on topic, if attendance is the perception of success, and such success helps the mvc, every team should be hosting Joan of Arc nights until the product on the floor can drive attendance. The more money these programs can bring in (concessions, merchandise if not tickets) and spend, the better the mvc will be.

What % of concessions does CU get from their rented arena ? Perhaps that makes up for the cheap tix?

The most important driver is for the Board of Trustees, President and Athletic Director of each university to "want to."
