What's the most important long term thing we can do to be successful? Add schools? Better TV package? The Shox made a final four followed by an unbeaten season and I'm not sure the Valley as a whole is better off. If anything, nationally we sort of look like WSU and their step children.

To be honest just do good in the non-conference. Teams beat each other up every year...except WSU last season of course. So in order for the Valley to stay relevant more teams have to do better. Win the Big games too.

I think it's post season success. Win games in the dance and create a "St. Mary's" to WSU's "Gonzaga". Then get a couple of teams to the second weekend in the dance and create a buzz about the MVC in March.

MVC teams need to schedule tough in non-con and absolutely kill it against those non-con teams. If that happens, then Valley schools can beat themselves up in conference (which is typical) and the MVC will still have a shot to send 2 to 4 teams to the Big Dance.

Oh course, the MVC teams that do reach the Big Dance will need to have some success (making Sweet 16s or having a WSU like run). Think the Valley will be up this coming season, so those non-con foes NEED to be taken down and MVC schools can build up some quality victories.

ROCK IT VALLEY!

In a nutshell, schedule better and invest in their programs ie paying coaches better and upgrading facilities.

Bingo. Invest in programs so you can sustain success and not be a flash in the pan once a decade or two.

uhh....win....

maybe not the valley, but WSU is much better off. No team is going to bring success to another school, your school has to commit to it, not wait around for hand me downs.. To many schools in the MVC just going thru the motions.

Not sorta, you are! If you don't like it, then don't accept mediocrity.

The MVC is worse off today than it was in 2010, because of Creighton disappearing.

Someone has to fill the role they left, a name you can associate with good basketball in the MVC.

Northern Iowa seems like the most likely candidate, but they'll have to start earning NIT appearances, at least, to get their mojo going again.

NIT won't do it. NCAA tourney wins is it for national recognition.
