Who is the best MVC shooting guard?

Should a shooting guard make the All League team if he is ranked this high nationally by NBA scouts?

I'll add that if he stays injury free (he was bothered 60% of last year by his ankle sprain that he played with or he would have averaged at least 3-4 more points a game last year) he will average 18 points per this year.

I think Baker is the best SG in the MVC.
2 Beane
3 Milton Doyle
4 Balentine
5 Marshall

As strong of a group as I can remember at the 2.

Just based on seeing all these guys play in person about 3 times each I'd say Beane passes my eye test as the best player of the bunch.

Ballentine is the best spot-up shooter.
Beane is probably the best scorer.
Baker is the best all-around player.

This is a more reasoned approach than most have taken, so it's a little easier to get behind. I'd like to see another full year of Beane, as he came on SO strong at the end of last year. It will also be interesting to see how Baker does as more of a 'feature' scorer this year. Some of his numbers might go up, but his efficiency's might drop.

Most of the advanced offensive statistics actually favor Baker slightly over the other two, while the non-offensive statistics are pretty heavily in his favor. I enjoy looking here for these types of comparisons: http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/compar ... =ron-baker

At any rate, just looking at all these guys gives me hope that the league will be MUCH improved this year. Lots of talented guards becoming upperclassmen and being joined by decent-looking prospects.

Obviously we all know Ron Baker is probably clear cut best SG in the valley. Has all the tools to be a solid pro. My top 5
1.Baker
2.Marshall
3.Beane
4.Balentine
5. Doyle

Tough to put Marshall in there because I feel he plays the 1 more often than any other guys on this list. I'll maybe also put him from 2-3 if we were talking best PGs in the valley

I agree with your top 5 and the order. I think Baker and Marshall are at the top because they are the best all around players in the MVC at this position. Marshall has to be healthy though. Beane is a heck of a player too. This is maybe the strongest position in the Valley.

This is the best way to look at this.

There is no doubt for me that Baker is the best NBA prospect at SG in the MVC, the best defender, and the best all-around player (including the ability to substitute into the PG role).

But there are several players that I think are better offensive threats at that position.
