UIC to double down on Chicago. SIU-E to kinda sorta get in on STL. UMKC because of the KC part. Or Omaha, because it's Omaha?

I'm guessing geography would nix UMKC or Omaha.

What's SFA do with football?

SLC won't keep them as an affiliate and MVFC wants to contract not expand

How did conference realignment workout for Creighton
this year. Can you say NIT.A lot of times its better to be the
big fish in a small pond, not just another l scavenging for food. :bounce:

Hmmm. The Big East signed a TV deal for $500 million. An NCAA tournament appearance game share is worth approx. $1.5 million each.

2014: 4 NCAA tournament teams (Creighton was one of them), 6 game shares
2015: 6 NCAA tournament teams, 11 game shares
2016: 5 NCAA tournament teams (1 still alive), 9 game shares

I'd say they are quite OK with their decision to switch conferences.

I can't stand Creighton as much as the next guy, but let's be honest. There's no reason to worry if the ex-wife misses you. She's moved to a nicer house, lost some weight, and doesn't regret it for a minute.

Your data is all financially based for a private school that already has plenty of $$$. Municup14 is talking from a basketball standpoint. Sustaining continued trips to the NCAA tournament for their own school is much harder in a bigger conference without your studs still around.

As a Coach/Player/Fan, I would much prefer the 18 straight NCAA appearances that Gonzaga has received than be inconsistently receiving NCAA bids in a bigger conference as a smaller fish in a bigger pond.

As far as I am concerned if WSU leaves the MVC that would be the beginning of the end for the Valley.
All that would be left would be raiding more Horizon, OVC or Summit teams which would further weaken an already watered down product.

The only end game that would enhance the Valley would be to somehow convince St Louis and Dayton to
leave the A10 for the MVC. Not sure that could ever happen unless Elgin was able to put together a long term TV deal similar to what the A10 has but that would certainly be dependent on these two additions .

Dayton & SLU keep holding out for the Big East but I don't think that is going to happen for them. Xavier will fight against Dayton and SLU just has never had any long term success that would make them a worthy addition.

I know this is a long shot...but it's the only move that could propel the MVC upward.
