That could definitely be the way this ultimately plays out. That will definitely be a tough decision for some schools though. For instance MSU recently spent a large amount of money renovating our football stadium. Maybe not a great decision in light of this development but hindsight is always 20/20.
I do see the value in a football program but not at the expense of sucking the athletic budget dry.
