Hard to not vote for the reigning POY but Baker should have a huge year.

Obviously the season is very young, but who are your top players early for POY?

It's still Baker. He's playing for an undefeated top 10 team and is third in scoring and has better than a 5:1 A:TO ratio.

OTOH, UNI is 7-0 and some might consider them as a potential MVC champion. In that instance, Seth Tuttle is making some serious waves.

Marcus Marshall, Anthony Beane, and Milton Doyle are also putting up some spectacular individual numbers, but unless their respective teams can put forth a legit MVC challenger, I think hey will be relegated to various 1st or 2nd team options.

I know I am biased, but Tuttle has been playing like a man against boys lately, this award usually comes down to the standings, and if the Panthers are close to Wichita (not that I am conceding the league title) the Wichita 3 way split may lead people to vote for Tuttle.

If Baker stays healthy, he wins going away.

4 or even 7 games isn't a large enough sample size. That said, it's Ron's to lose.

I dont know how someone can watch WSU and have the opinion that Baker is a more valuable player than FVV, let alone a better player. I just dont see it.

WSU would be in big trouble if VanVleet went down to injury, IMO. If they lost Baker, I think they would just keep trucking along.

Baker is healthy, and thus far has upped his game. I have no problem with FVV as the player most valuable to WSU, but at this point it's definitely debatable.

Take either out of the lineup and the replacement would likely be moving Wessel to Wing and using one of the Fr (Morris or Kelly) at PF.

Take Baker out of the lineup and the D collapses on the bigs, which would cut down VanVleet's ability to drive to the hoop as well as opportunities for assists on entry passes to the post players. Baker is the guy who gives defenses the greatest challenges.

1. Baker
2. Van Vleet
3. Tuttle
