Congratulations, UNI.

I had to go check the schedules to see when WSU plays UNI. Our young post players need some time to be ready for UNI. We're lucky. January 31 @ UNI and February 28 for WSU's Sr. Night are the dates we get the Panthers.

I was really surprised to see WSU get enough respect by the pollsters to remain that high.

Me too. It's fair though seeing as Utah is a very good team and they were at home.

Big congrats to the Panthers. Glad to see another MVC team in the rankings.

:bounce:

The respect for the Shox was evident in the polls. No major drop and Utah made big gains.

Congrats to the Northern Iowa team and fans. A major accomplishment.

Been hearing some mention on National TV.

Has UNI been ranked before? If so, when was the last time?

Is that a serious question?

Yes, in 2010, 2006 are the most recent, I believe also in 2005 as well.

Not meant as a dig, but they've been ranked 7 weeks total in 3.5 decades, peaking at #19. It's not exactly commonplace.

All the more reason for their fans to celebrate and enjoy the achievement. Take 2 of the next 3 and they'll have a chance to get used to seeing a number next to their name on the ticker.

On another board, somebody posted all of the times that an MVC team had been ranked in the last 35 years and didn't list any from UNI. As such, I was curious since I would have thought they would have a previous ranking. Thanks for responding!

I decided to take a look at UNI's schedule to see which MVC team will get the chance to "Evansville" them after they blow through VCU and Iowa and open up conference play undefeated and start getting mentioned in every single ESPN article. Sure enough, the first MVC team they play is.....Evansville.

I put the chance at UNI getting Evansville'd at about 95%.
