Btw, Hilton Magic should be defined as falling behind inferior teams and coming back to win games that should have been won easily. Kansas is like 21-2 in their last 23 visits.

I think we are/were something like 7-3 or 8-2 in our last 10 against ISU before the Big 4 "Classic" started

WSU with a tough 5 seed draw against a good Green Bay team, would face Iowa State in the next round.

UNI with a 6 seed against winner of NC State/St. Johns, Maryland waiting in the next round.

I would love to see WSU match up with Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament. It seems like every Iowa State fan I've ever encountered has been very cocky and, for a team that's in a conference that's been won by the same school 10 times in a row, I don't understand why they're so stuck up. Maybe you people from Iowa can correct me, just my experience. I'm sure some label WSU fans the same way.. but at least we've had a good amount of success the past few years. If some other team won the MVC 10 years in a row, I don't know if I'd be bragging.

No correction needed. Iowa State fans are the worst. At summer league this year, one Cyclone fan was telling me that they would win the MVC with their bottom five. Having Wichita State end their season would be great.

I wonder how they explain UNI regularly beating them head to head then? Sounds like MU fans.

Wouldn't even register with people like that.

They're the same types that will completely disregard WSU as a Valley team, and completely ignore that WSU has beaten Iowa twice in the last five years, by 12 and 19 points respectively. Or that WSU has a 16-6 record against the "big five" BCS conferences in that same timespan, of which all six losses were on the road or at neutral sites, while WSU won only two of the 16 at home. Or that WSU has a winning record against every single "BCS" conference over that span, including undefeated records against both the B1G and B12 (6-0). Or that if you expanded it out to the top seven conferences and included the AAC and the Big East, WSU is 25-7, with three losses to teams that played in the national championship game (including two national champs).

Logic never wins with people that only see conferences.

Iowa St (and the media, who might be the bigger offender of this) need to wait for Hoiberg to actually get results before crowning his ***.

As an Iowa State alum myself, who grew up in Peoria on Bradley basketball, let me help with a few things...

First of all, Hilton Magic is not a recent term. That term was first coined back in the 80's when I was a student there, and with good reason. During my 4 years there, we were nearly unbeatable at home, consistently beating teams that were far superior to us, including Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Yet on the road, we hardly ever beat anyone, including the worst of the worst in the old Big 8. You'd be hard pressed to find another D-1 team in the nation that had a home/road disparity as large as the Cyclones did back then. Nowadays, that disparity is long gone, but the term "Hilton Magic" is still used for some reason.

I can not speak for current ISU students, but those of us from long ago are nothing like what is being described here. What I will say is that Hoiberg has achieved great results in a short term based on the state of the program when he took over. He has done so in what is seen as an unconventional way, but it has worked. They have over-achieved each season recently, and this year should be a legitimate Big 12 contender, although they still do have a few shortcomings, which will likely keep them from being a true national title contender. Compare what Hoiberg as done at ISU to what Ford has done at BU, or Lusk at MSU.

We also do not compare everything we do to Iowa. We've proven on the court our superiority to them the past several years, winning 5 of the last 6, and 9 of the last 13 years against them. UNI has competed favorably against both Iowa and Iowa State as well recently, so we hold nothing against them or Wichita State. Personally, I do not want to see UNI or WSU against ISU in the tourney until at least the Final 4, because I don't want the teams I root for to play each other until as late as possible for obvious reasons.

6-6 since 2002, but 6-3 since 2005. 5-4 against Iowa since 2006, so yes you've had success against both.

Big East with 7 teams in which is insane if you asked me. But no Creighton :bounce:

Bracketology is boring this year. Wichita still on my 4 line, UNI still on my 6, Loyola still too far away to matter (will definitely need 2 of 4 against the Big 2).

Still have the Big East with 7. Expect that number to go to 6, just because there's not enough wins to go around in conference play, and DePaul stole a couple of them, so someone's falling off the pace.

A good Creighton team would have trouble keeping pace with the conference this year, so maybe it's good they're at the basement and will lay low for a year. The McBuckets team from last year would absorb a few more losses this year.
