I really don't know what he could have done, but taking a team from 12-20 to 21-12 he must have been doing something really wrong to get canned.
I would have to assume he doesn't stay unemployed.

Wow. It must have been something pretty serious. Too bad and just hope this doesn't derail his whole career.

What a weird week.
A bar incident bad enough to get him fired from an institution I would guess wasn't trying to find reasons to fire him, but no charges will be filed. Who knows?

The report is that it stems from an incident that took place in a bar with a patron late the night the season ended which was videoed on a cell phone. There is no report as to whether it involved a male or a female. Another report indicates it involved some deragatory language regarding something of local interest. If a male, suffice it to say that Jans could be a fiery in your face type guy. Another report suggests Jans was surprised he was fired. Very good coach though.

Well, since Alabama couldn't get Marshall, maybe they can at least hire Jans!

A person involved in the incident told FOXSportsOhio.com that Jans acted "aggressively and inappropriately" toward at least one female bar patron on the night of March 21.
Jans was asked to leave after a woman slapped him, the source said. At least one of his assistant coaches was involved in getting Jans out of the bar.
The news of his firing came late Thursday morning via a university press release that read: "Jans was terminated following an investigation into his recent public conduct. The university concluded that Jans' public conduct failed to meet his obligations as a head coach and the expectations that BGSU Athletics has for its coaches."
The source guessed that Jans and some staffers had been in the bar "for about three hours" and the brief altercation probably actually took place early on March 22. The source said the woman who slapped Jans has not talked with local police or university officials.
It's not known if university officials saw cell phone video of the incident. The source estimated that as many as 50 people were in the bar at the time Jans was escorted out.

Ugh. What an awful mistake. Amazing how he apparently went his entire career without ever hinting trouble, and yet did something so blatantly, publicly wrong as that.
WSU has an assistant coach opening. Does Jans return to the WSU bench, or is this incident too ugly for WSU to accept him back?
He's a great coach. Honestly not sure I'd want him representing a university I cheer for, though. At least not this quickly.
