Interesting MVC metrics

I was doing some looking around sports-reference.com earlier today for the Cotton/NBA thread and came across this by accident.

This seems like the end all/be all MVC stat/metric site.

I've used that site for so many things and I'd never come across that section.

I first noticed it when looking at Cotton's stats I noticed a "defensive metric", or something or other. I clicked it and started looking through the career, season, etc... defensive numbers that were linked at the top. I clicked one more link and found this page.

There is HOURS, maybe days, of digging around on this site to start finding everything.

Interesting to note the year sCUm was terrible on defense and Etchassketch won DPOY there was big outrage with it, but he did have the best defensive rating that year.

On that note, the best defensive season ever tracked by this site? Jordan Egleseder.

Lot's of WSU guys at the top of the "career" list.

No idea how that can even be measured but it's really interesting to look at.

Most FG attempts in a single season going back to 1997:

1. DJ Balentine took 563 shots this season. Which is 35 shots more than the next most, which is also DJ Balentine, from last season.

BUT the offense isn't just him putting up as many shots as he can after running off of 15 illegal screens.

Honestly though, look at where Mock ranks offensively and defensively and imagine how good that team could be if they could get a coach that could learn to run an offense that wasn't just pick one guy to shoot 20-30 times per game and ignore the rest of the team

LOL about the illegal screens = I think there might be a Panther fan bitter that UE beat them this season.

Ballentine led UE in assists (#7 in the MVC).
Also, he was tops in the MVC in FT made.

UE led the MVC in scoring and FG%, why would anyone think there is a problem with their offense?
