You're right. They aren't comparable simply based on the different offenses each of their teams utilize.

Aargh and Championz are right on this subject. The only reason that is difficult to compare in this case is that Frankamp will never shoot the same number of shots that Ballentine does (and Colt Ryan, etc.).

NBA scouts and Kenpom rate Baker as the best shooter coming off a screen in this year's class. Film of Baker using screens is used at clinics. Ballentine gets the press for his scoring - and he's very good at that.

Baker is the better player at executing Ballentine's specialty, but Marshall utilizes the entire team instead of one player. If Simmons doesn't use Mock for an inside-outside game (which is not a screening game), then all an opponent has to do is slow Ballentine down. That's not easy, but it's easier to stop a one-dimensional attack than a multi-dimensional attack.

In the championship game of the CIT last year Mock scored 27 points, and DJ 16. Hardly a one man show. That's something that will happen more this year. Maybe Marty should tell Mock to shoot less.

And yet, it was in the CIT. Because of precisely the reasons given above.

CIT?

Surely your win against UNI was a better win.

Ummmm...

UNI was 11-1 going into that game (may have been top 25) with a Cancun Challenge title (wins over an ACC and B10 team in Cancun), a win over SFA (who was a pretty good team), a 12 point win over Iowa (who turned out to be pretty good) and only a loss a 2 OT thriller AT VCU. UNI then won 16 straight, and 19 of the next 20, on their way to a top 10 ranking.

At no point in the season did anything Evansville do come close to that win. Not even close. Especially not wins over freaking IPFW, Eastern Illinois, Louisana-Monroe, UT-Martin and Northern Arizona.

None of those teams would have avoided the PIG in the MVC

This is exactly why I can't believe Evansville got second in the preseason voting.

I don't think many would be surprised if UNI took second.
