Last Summer Scrimmage Recap From WSU
Posted: September 17th, 2015, 10:29 pm
Summer scrimmage evaluations are opinions of observers and don't always indicate how players will perform in game systems and game situations, but they're all we've got this time of year. I'll try to be brief.
Conner Fannkamp - Frankamp's biggest doubter among WSU fans is now gushing with praise and reporting that Frankamp is looking like the top-40 guy where he was ranked out of HS - and he's doing that playing PG, which wasn't his HS position.
VanVleet - Quicker, faster, and better vertical. Look for him to finish an alley-oop from one of the other perimeter guys sometime this year.
Rashard Kelly/Shaq Morris - both are leaner and have worked on their O.
Ron Baker/Zach Brown/Evan Wessel - Baker is Baker. Brown is the guy who clowned a lottery pick in the NCAA's last year. Nothing new to report. Wessel still doesn't look like a starter among the talent on the team, but will be.
This is probably the best team at WSU in the Masrshall era.
Eric Hamilton (Fr) Unlimited ceiling, but has attitude. Could become Xavier McDaniel or P'Allen Stinnet.
Markis McDuffie (top-100 Fr) - taller version of Cleanthony Early with a little better shooting range.
Peyton Allen - 1" shorter version of Zach Bush, who is a walk-on.
Anton Grady (5th yr graduated Sr. trfr from Cleveland State)- great post moves, beautiful baby hook, lots of scoring potential, was on Horizon League All-Defense team last year. Reported as being pouty - probably because of ...
Wamukota - incredibly improved. The guy who was able to shut Tuttle down now has an offensive game to go along with his D.
That's just summer scrimmage reporting. It may or may not be demonstrated in games, but we don't have much to discuss for another 6 weeks or so.
This is probably the best WSU team during the Marshall era.
