Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

Exhibitions, etc.

Figured I'd start a thread for exhibition games.

UNI had their exhibition game tonight against Truman State coached by former Panther Chris Foster.

As expected, UNI overpowered the smaller Bulldogs, winning 70-50 after building a 36-23 halftime lead.

Matt Bohannon lead UNI with 15 points, Ted Friedman chipped in 10, Wes Washpun 9, Bennett Koch and Aarias Austin 8 each. Washpun led UNI with 10 assists, Koch led with 7 rebounds. UNI outrebounded TSU 38-27 and shot 51% from the floor for the game.

Not much more to say as TSU's biggest guy was 6'8" 200. Panthers looked rusty trying to put together rotations and gel in the offense. Defense was solid as expected. Aarias Austin gives another long, athletic guard to go with Morgan. Friedman looks more confident on offense. Freshman didn't play a lot, but were decent for what you would expect from freshman. Not sure any will be called on for major minutes this year-only McDonnell is likely to play.

Paul Jesperson did not play as he is still in a boot recovering from a foot injury.

UNI will take on Wisconsin sometime in the next 7-10 days in a closed scrimmage.

Thanks for the recap! Basketball season is almost here!!

WSU played a closed door scrimmage against the OSU Cowboys. Very little information, and it is unclear how accurate this is, but here's what we got:

Fred VanVleet played little (if at all) due to a sprained ankle. Nurger didn't play. Not sure why. Shamet was the best freshman. Taylor and Hamilton did not look good (Marshall mentioned that he will red-shirt someone). Brown and Kelly looked improved over last year.

Edited to fix mascot.

I wasn't there, but from someone that was it sounded like it looked like Jake hadn't even started to practice offense yet.......which wouldn't surprise me.

Rumor floating:
UE beat Central Michigan in a closed door scrimage. Not much info, but CMU is picked to win the MAC this year. FWIW
The preceding lesson in basketball is free of charge.

If true, it's worth a lot. Playing the Little Sisters of the Poor in an exhibition game is no preparation for Valley play.

Indiana State played Northern Illinois and no injuries were reported!

Open vs. DePauw for our exhibition Saturday

This is about all that's out there as of now on Isur vs SLU scrimmage http://m.stltoday.com/sports/college/sl ... touch=true

Illinois State, which was picked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference, did many things that Crews felt challenged the Billikens. Most notable, he said, were that the Redbirds pressed and were a strong offensive rebounding team as well as being athletic.

Pretty much what we already know, and Sources said we also won for what that's worth lol
