UE beat Central Michigan in a closed door scrimage. Not much info, but CMU is picked to win the MAC this year. FWIW

If true, it's worth a lot. Playing the Little Sisters of the Poor in an exhibition game is no preparation for Valley play.

UNI plays Wisconsin in a closed scrimmage.

I don't really think either one means a ton, or carries a ton of weight, come regular season

The 'winning' or 'losing' closed scrimmages doesn't mean a thing. The ability to get way better in a live situation against competition similar to the top end of your schedule and for newcomers to get a reality check is invaluable.

Bradley surprised most people with how easily it won its first exhibition.

Yes, it was against an average to mediocre D3 team in Edgewood College. But Bradley started five freshmen and no one had any idea what to expect. Bradley lost to a D3 team (but a very, very good one) in exhibition play last year.

BU beat Edgewood 78-42. Had a big lead pretty much the whole game. Edgewood's tallest player was 6-5. BU won the rebound battle 52 to 34.

Center Callum Barker from Tasmania had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Dwayne Lautier-Ogenyele from England had 12 pts, 4 reb and 4 assists and guard Ronnie Suggs had 10 points.

Bradley finishes up the exhibition season on Monday with a game vs. D2 St. Joseph's College.

wufan's post about Taylor and Hamilton needing work probably came from Marshall. Info that leaked out of the OSU coaching staff said that Taylor was impressive..

Taylor's prep coach (Hargrave) has said that Taylor could be the quickest and fastest guard in D1. That's probably hype, but the guy is coaching at Hargrave, and he's seen a lot of top prospects over the years.

VanVleet is likely to be held out of the exhibition against Hawaii-Pacific (11/7 - 2 PM - ESPN3, where not blacked out). VanVleet has been rehabbing a hamstring injury that he tweaked in the scrimmage against Okie State. We're probably going to get a look at whether Shamet or Taylor can produce at PG.

Shamet is learning PG and SG this year, which is a chunk for a Fr in Marshall's system. Shamet is reported to be a quick learner with good BB IQ. Taylor came to WSU as a combo guard. Reports out of the KC area (where he played HS ball) are that he was switched to SG his Sr year because that's where he was needed, even though he was the best PG on that team. At 6'1", he's probably only going to play PG at WSU.

We pretty much know what the Shox have this year. Any questions in the front court won't be answered against a D2 team. What we can get out of this game is a look at what we've got after Baker/VanVleet/Wessel.

I know Taylor is gifted as both an athlete and a scorer. He was a stud at Hargave (as was Kelly the previous year). I have now heard both ends of the spectrum on Taylor, both from second hand sources at the scrimmage. The way I read it is that he has all the attributes you'd want in a freshman PG, but that he isn't yet running Marshall's system (offensively or defensively) to the level that is expected for a contributor. I could be wrong, but redshirt or not, we aren't going to see a lot of Ty Taylor this year.

Indiana State plays DePauw at 1pm in our lone exhibition game. It's on ESPN3 as well

Khristian Smith probably won't play as he has a minor injury, also one of our redshirt freshman guards may not play as a result of a concussion this week, Laquarious Paige
