Louisville would actually be a great fit for Marshall. Power conference school where football takes a backseat. Great basketball fan support and they are second fiddle to Kentucky.

According to news sources, Marshall earned the following bonuses:
$20,000 - winning record in the MVC
$35,000 - 20-win season
$18,000 - MVC Championship
$36,000 x3 - NCAA Tournament games

I wouldn't think that the OSU program would be sufficient to woo him. Bottom half program, not as important as football, etc.

More importantly his daughter is going to be a Junior, and his family now have deeper Wichita roots. However, it is known from those close to him that he is not fond of conferences who have so many schools who don't schedule competitively, and it is a good chance that WSU may have to win the Valley Tournament (especially a good possibility next year), to go the NCAA because the league is not considered strong, even though we know how competitive the top half of the Valley can be.

In other words, One Bid Conferences are not attractive.

I certainly don't think Marshall is going to Oklahoma State but something to consider is that Stillwater is close enough that the Marshalls could maintain their Wichita roots for another year or two and then his daughter could go wherever after she graduated high school. I believe the Jans were planning on doing something similar and Bowling Green is a heck of a lot further away than Stillwater (but we all know how that worked out). I could see Marshall's son forbidding his father from taking the Oklahoma State job just to keep the family from having any sort of connection with Gottlieb.

If/when Marshall leaves, the vitriol spewed by Wichita State towards Valley schools not named Northern Iowa will reach unbearable levels. Valley fans think it's bad now but now will be rainbows and unicorns compared to what it would be.

Continually being underseeded and/or penalized for winning conference games will not help WSU keep Marshall. Respect is a huge factor for Gregg. Money is merely the manifestation of respect, and it allows him to ensure comfort for his family. He could go to Texas Tech, finish 7th in the conference and get an 8 seed. In the MVC, you win it and you might get an 11 seed this year. That cannot happen again.
