So it started to be rumored in the national media that Lansing is going to Tulane.

Dannen being willing to throw 1.5-2m at Greg Lansing tells you a couple things

1. Ain't nobody actually wanting that job
2. Can tell that Dannen has never actually hired a coach in a high profile sport - he didn't hire Jake. He didn't hire UNI's FB coach. Dannen just happened to come on as AD right as Jake started showing what he can do as a coach and then answered all of the phone calls from big name donors going "TAKE MY MONEY TO KEEP JAKE"....

They're offering 1.5-2M for him? Isn't that about 7 times what he's making now? I know the job is bad, but is it so bad you have to do that?

I'd assume Tulane is willing to offer in the 1.5 range based on what I can find

$600-800K and a commitment to improving recruiting budgets, assistant salaries, etc. could make it a more attractive job if Tulane and Dannen can do those things. Personally, I don't see this as a great fit for either side. I think Lansing is a terrific coach who has proven he can do more with less in a Midwestern setting. I think he would need some significant help with recruiting down there if he were to take the job.

I hope he stays. I think he's good for Indiana State and good for the Valley.

Dannen should be pressing the boosters down there to open their wallets and throw a big number at Johnny Dawkins.
