I'm very sorry that I feel more like holding the Evansville program accountable than Evansville fans and administrators. That pretty much sums up the entire problem.

Please don't lump all UE fans into that group. I wanted him gone after year 7. But just think, if he would have been gone we may not have had back to back 20 win seasons and irrelevant post season bids.

Here is a question to ask UE fans.....in the last 25 years how many players have started every game for 4 years? The answer is very very very few. BUT, Blake very well could be good enough to top this list.

That reason and that reason alone could be grounds for firing. ;)

I don't even know what to do with this.

Get on board with it? Seems like a reasonable take.

Yes, a reasonable take alright, but who wants to bet that after starting all of his first 3 years, that he won't start in his 4th year. My only hope is that he wouldn't get 30-35 minutes a game. Not in my wildest dreams would I bet he gets less than 20. ;)

What is reasonable take?
Last year's team wasn't good enough to relegate #50 to 6th man status?
The best 5 players have started every game the last 3 years?
Marty will suddenly change his ways and bring him off the bench, regardless of who else is on the team?

Hoping that the team is good enough to relegate Simmons to the bench is a very reasonable take.

The fact that last year's team wasn't good enough (or the coach was too stubborn) to move Simmons to the bench is telling. Did the team make the tournament last year? Win the league? Make the NIT? Come remotely close to winning the league? That would seem to indicate that those of us thinking Simmons shouldn't (or perhaps can't) be a starter for an at-large worthy team are on to something. If Simmons is still starting next year, UE is still very unlikely to complete any of the above. And if that is the case, once again, what the hell is the extension for?
