I'll put it this way for you Evansville has more history in its left nut than Northern Iowa will ever have. Wait till Jake leaves and you'll be the cellar dweller again in *edited out the vulgarity slame at Cedar Falls*

Well, Evansville has 47 seasons of D1/highest level basketball compared to 36 for UNI.

In 47 D1 seasons Evansville is 663-545 (54.9%) an average of 15.4 wins per season
In 36 D1 seasons UNI is 575-513 (53%) an average of 15.9 wins per season

In 47 D1 seasons Evansville had 5 NCAA appearances
In 36 D1 seasons UNI has 8 NCAA appearances

In 47 D1 season Evansville has 1 NCAA win
In 36 D1 seasons UNI has 5 NCAA wins

In 47 D1 seasons Evasvillle has been in the top 25 0 times
In 36 D1 seasons UNI has been in the top 25 3 times at the end of the season (and a few other times in season)

In 47 D1 seasons Evansville has won 20+ games 11 times
In 36 D1 seasons UNI has won 20+ games 11 times

You were saying? Kudos for the D2 success. Turns out, that's the only place you can find it. Feel free to go back.

Also, why did you delete your post? Because you knew a reply like this was coming? Is it because people thought UNI would fall apart when Mc$ left and it didn't happen? Likely it's blind jealousy

I deleted it because I chose to take the high road and post something else. It's not jealousy I can tell you that. There is no one in the Valley that is Jealous about Northern Iowa.

Moral high ground, in this case means, no leg to stand on to back up your claims

You might want to get some help doing math. UE has division 1 since 1977 that is going on 40 years not 47.

That may be true.

Which explains why some teams in the Valley give Marty Simmons contract extensions.

Turns out, it's hard to be jealous when you just don't care.

Perhaps more people should be jealous of what Northern Iowa has done.

D1 equivalent at the time of the season

1924/25-1927/28 - 4 seasons
1948/49-1950/51 - 4 seasons
1977/79-present - 39 seasons

39+4+4 = 47 seasons

You might want to let me keep those other 8 seasons when it comes to win %....In those 8 years UE was 107-64

I mean, I can take them out, the only state it changes is the W/L record. At that point, in 39 seasons of D1 ball UE has the same number (give or take less than 10) as UNI does in 3 less seasons.

You're choice though

Be jealous of what they have had success the last 10 years yes. They were a cellar dweller team before that. Southern had probably the best run besides WSU. Teams go through struggles all of them. I'm not happy with Marty and never have been but I'm not in the position to get rid of him. I can tell you if they took a poll in Evansville he would've been gone a long time ago.

What's funny about that "far better run" is:
SIU had less NCAA trips during that run than UNI has during it's current run.
Had spent less time in the AP top 25 than UNI has during it's run
Finished in the AP poll less times than UNI has
Never ranked as high as UNI has been
Had the same number of NCAA wins as UNI has had in their run.

Funny thing facts are when you actually take time to look at them

Those are the seasons the NCAA, and stat websites, consider UE to have been a D1 institution, or played under the "major school" label pre divisional days.

Wow this escalated fast - UNI fan got a little bent out of shape that I paid a compliment to Jake that he is a Coach who deserves the benefit of the doubt based on his stellar record. Never did I say that Marty was in his class just that I personally feel like he deserves 2 years to see if he can keep UE in the 18-20 win range while retooling. If not I am ready for a change just but just not sure it will improve things and going to the bottom would be quite depressing.

Personally I always root for UNI (and all MVC schools - unless they were to be playing Illinois or Houston) in the NCAA tournament and was very sad the way the TAMU game ended. Good luck to you guys this year again.

Myself I just get tired of the piling on UE - the suggestion that UE fans don't want to win or we are satisfied just getting to see our team play on the same court with the other MVC schools is ludicrous. Feel free to send letters to the UE Athletic Department and UE Admin. or better yet the MVC Commissioner to demand that UE and the other 7 dwarfs of the MVC (in your eyes) play only top 40 teams from P5 conferences.
