If these are the true rankings, Wichita is wanting to leave the 8th rated conference for the 7th rated conference?

Well this is just analytic propaganda! Just ask someone who really knows, like saucy. They will tell you the truth that the MVC is not a top 10 conference, the Big Priest is not a top 5 conference, the Big12-2 is way overrated, and the American is just having an off year and is approximately between 10 and 100 times better than the MVC. You just can't buy into things like analytics and science to guide your thinking, you have to rely on your gut, or better yet the gut of someone special.

Is BPI used for selection/seeding purposes? Otherwise, I think anybody can move some statistics around, slap their name on it, and say it legitimizes anything you want it to.

Let's see if the Valley is treated like the "8th best conference" on Selection Sunday.

Except the result would be AAC would move to 5th and the Valley would drop to 15 or so.

Respectfully disagree. The addition of Wichita to the American would still have the American behind the ACC, Big East, Big 12, Big Ten, and SEC. Can't see the American jumping any of those conferences. Pac 12? Maybe. Probably not even them. So the American gets a +1 MAYBE.

As far as the MVC? They're not dropping down to Horizon or Ivy League with Wichita leaving. Another team will step up. Not initially to the level Wichita has performed in the past, but remember, the league held it's own when Wichita was stinking up the place years ago. We wouldn't be 8 right away, but we're not dropping down below 10.

It took WSU's Final Four, undefeated season, Sweet 16, etc. just to keep this conference around 12 for the last several years. You're certifiably insane if you think the Valley is in the Top 10 (even in this BPI or whatever other trendy metric system) if they go.

lol not dropping below 10. The conference is already 12th in the RPI they're just 8th in ESPN's crappy computer system. They're 10th in KenPom.

I don't really want to take the time to calculate what the numbers would be if Wichita State were in the AAC. I'll give it you that the AAC might not pass any P5 schools but the AAC is pretty down this year and they're still solidly in 7th. Add WSU and have UConn back to normal and it's probably close. I'll concede that point.

The Valley is 100% not top 10 though without Wichita State. I'd take the Horizon over a Valley-less Wichita State.

We're not talking RPI, we're talking BPI right? Just using the ranking system you were discussing.

Yes, RPI is definitely another matter altogether.

Probably 12ish via RPI.
