Power conferences are based on the member schools and their resources. There's no promotion system to become a power conferences. The Mountain West doesn't get elevated because the Pac 12 doesn't exist. Fresno State still isn't UCLA.

Good point.

The number of conferences with all the power will get smaller, not bigger.

Matt Brown says the league is looking at Northern Kentucky, Central Arkansas, Little Rock and Arlington as possible replacements. Kansas City is not expected to be in the running and there's no mention of Omaha at all.

The name PAC still holds more relevance for many people than Mountain West. I agree with you that there is no replacing UCLA, Stanford, USC, etc., but the name is still something. It won't generate the same buzz without those name teams, but the name PAC can still be beneficial. We might find that returning to the PAC could be ideal for some schools one day hence the relevance of the name still surviving.

Central Arkansas, a team that has one winning season in it's history 7 years ago? I'm guessing we'd try to bring them into the MVFC.

NKU is my pick then.

Former UNI associate AD Crystina Roybal is the AD there now too so there are some relationships and understanding of what the Valley is that the previous administration there didn't have.

They would be my choice from that list as well.

Puts the MVFC in danger if the Summit schools decide they want to break off and sponsor football but you can always grab Robert Morris as an affiliate if you need to down the road and UNI, Illinois State, SIU, Indiana State, Murray, Youngstown and RMU is still a decent enough league at the FCS level.

All for NKU. But a serious question. Why the speculation on the Summit League will begin sponsoring football?

NKU is the only pick. All of the other options are just significantly worse. Sad to not see St Thomas, but not surprised. They are still barred from the postseason with transition rules for another year. THe conference likely wants to fill the hole before the start of the season.

If they are focusing only on those schools then NKU is my pick as well.

Probably because of this.

Those would all be stupid choices. hopefully the Missouri State guy still isn't in charge of getting replacements.
