First time the Valley went 7-0 in one day since 2009 I think I saw.

Incredible. The Valley has to be knocking on the door for #10 in the conference rankings, right?

With the CBS contract up for renewal, there was not a more important year to be right there for a top-10 conference than this one. If the MVC had back-to-back years ranked 15th, who knows what would’ve happened.

Knocking on 10th, 9th, and 8th. All close together. When NET rankings come out, we may already be there. Nothing predictive in those.

The league just might be back, y'all...

Is Michael Duax hurt? I see he doesn't play all that much and hasn't done a whole lot.

I thought he was a breakout star in the making.

He doesn't feel like he's made much of a jump from last year and with Heise back and Trey Campbell taking a huge step forward he and Wolf are going to have to split minutes.

He also played the 4 a bunch last year and that's gone with Hutson allowing Anderson to play there.

Just speaking for Bradley, and also not going beyond a superficial understanding of NET, but I think NET will initially be looking at Bradley’s accomplishments in November a lot more favorably than KenPom’s model does. Kenpom isn’t going to favor the W-L result as much, and the margin of victory this month has not been as incredible as has been the frequency of victory over a sneaky good quality of opponent.

Some of these MVC teams that were 250+ for us last year, aren’t shining your shoes anymore this year, and it’s matter of which system catches up to that shift fastest. The type of credible math guy who builds these models we use would be among the first to tell you that Evansville and UIC the are catching their eye as something interesting to monitor and maybe learn from.

Bears did win their game vs SC St, 92-74 . It was a very uneven game flow as SC St was ultra aggressive and the refs were inconsistent all night with all the contact on every possession. Bears are actually kinda hurting right now with depth at the guards and on the wing. They've been playing all year w/o their 4th and 5th guards in transfer Nick Kramer [SLU] and freshman Davion Hill. Kramer is an undisclosed injury and Hill appears to have had some transfer credit issues , although unconfirmed, but Ford has said both will be available 2nd semester. In the meantime freshman Tyler Bey has a knee bruise and is out till then as well and last night starters Damian Mayo and Alston Mason left the game with injuries, although Mason made it back , but Mayo was in a boot. This after just getting Chance Moore back from a high ankle sprain. So for at least the next couple weeks and unfortunately the 1st 2 Valley games , Bears will be 3-4 players short and all perimeter guys. Suspect we'll have to play some larger lineups at times , so will see how that goes. Probably best time to catch the Bears right now.

In the game vs SC St pg Matthew Lee led the way with 28 pts and went 16/18 at the ft. He also had 7 assists ; Lee can drive ya nuts a bit as he can be a bit loose with the ball, but he plays with great confidence/moxy and can make plays across the board. Clay was his usual versatile self with 15 pts and 8 rbs. Xavier transfer 6'9 Cesarre Edwards had his best game as a Bear going for 13 pts, 8 rbs.

So close... Hell of an effort by UIC against a really good UNC-Greensboro team that has already beaten Arkansas earlier this year. Would have been really nice to get that win for the MVC but someone has to lose in tough battles like this. Keep up the amazing effort Flames!

They're really changing my thinking on these big money state schools in urban areas joining the conference vis a vis their benefits to the league's strength on the court (obviously they help recruit regular students that's beyond dispute). Maybe these schools can and will get good if they're given a reason to invest like the impetus that MVC membership provides. Of course I think UIC is a unique case given their resources which dwarf those of most schools in their mold but still it's worth considering as a potential factor in any future realignment decisions.
