Even with the loss, UNI jumps 20 slots and it's flirting with the top 150 at 161. Crazy efficient offensively just can't stop anybody.

The problem I see for both Drake and Indiana St is lack of Q1 games, let alone Q1 wins. Drake hasn't played 1 yet, and probably plays 3-4 at most the rest of the way. Indiana St has played 1 [Alabama /lost] and also plays maybe 3-4 at most .Their game at Michigan St is huge for them. For example, the team that beat Indiana St, Alabama, is probably fairly indicative of other SEC teams and they have already played 4 Q-1 games and have about 14 more on their schedule. Both Indiana St and Drake have to go probably no worse than 17-3 in the Valley to have a real shot .

Almost impossible for the Valley to get an at large bid. :x

Obviously it can be done as a couple MM teams do every year, but the odds are really stacked against it. It's a perfect system for P-6 because it can be defended as an objective measure , ie the number of quality teams you schedule and beat . And the much used rationale of "they" need to schedule better sounds reasonable unless you know that "they" don't have control over that aspect. Scheduling is the number 1 factor determining who has a viable chance at making the NCAA tourney and the most impactful criteria is who you play and beat. When leagues who are in competition with you not only have a scheduling advantage but the power to deny you access to similar scheduling, that's not an uneven field, that's a monopoly.
