Howard Fleming JR may be the best of the five Illinois State recruits.

The Redbirds have gotten a commitment from a juco stretch-4, Alex Kotov out of Daytona State (from Moscow). He was a medical RS last season due to a broken hand and will have 3-years. His numbers look bad but his coaches seem to think he could very easily been a HM player. He was at the ISU-Bradley game in Normal and saw where the Birds needed help then turned down the opportunity to go on visits to Nevada, Hawaii, Cincinnati, and Texas A&M. I mean, even if I fell in love with ISU on the visit, I'd still go to the other places. Heck, who doesn't want to go to Hawaii in February??

This scholarship technically puts the Redbirds -2 for next season, however one of those was awarded to walk-on Iljah Donnely because we did not take a mid-season transfer. So really, -1.

Howard Fleming Jr named 2nd Team All-State, playing less than half the season due to shoulder surgery. That’s pretty impressive.

Don't often see major programs offer a guy that didn't even start on a juco team

Southern Cal, St Louis, and a few others thought enough to offer him. Hopefully be able to see how well their two new 6-10 recruits perform starting in November. This years class features those two, a first team All-State player from Georgia, a second team All-State player from Louisville, a NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention player from Iowa Western CC, and a 6-9 forward from Florida. Those six added to Keith Fisher, DJ Horne, Antonio Reeves, Dedric Boyd, and Abdou Ndiaye are going to put the Redbirds on an upward trajectory real soon.

He's a JUCO big man. There is no other over recruited position than JUCO Big Men in the spring.
