Yes, this is massive. Murray’s big donors - whoever they are - are very serious about winning. The league is lucky to have any member who’s investing in NIL at the 7-figure level.

Coaching staff/GM? We have great financial supporters but it looks like he’s also assembled a group of guys on the staff with deep pockets and I’m not sure if the end game is just the big job but the managing the players aspect and the big commissions that go with them. It’s a different world out there now.

I can tell my posts came off wrong and chapped a couple butts, lol, but that really wasn’t my intention. I’m not trying toot our horn or diminish anything going on around the rest of the league, just evaluating what my horse is doing. What they’re doing here and what’s going on behind the scenes that can’t be discussed here just yet is pretty intriguing to watch and hear about.

It is becoming pretty obvious which schools in the Valley have NIL money and which don't. Huge talent level disparity. It used to depend on the coach and school. Those are both pretty irrelevant now.

Nah. Coaches are still relevant. Look at North Carolina. Loaded with NIL money and can spend it on whomever. The problem, however is their coach. Hubert Davis is not a very good coach. You can have high level talent, but if you don't know how to use them, develop them and insert them into a system to produce, then paying all that money becomes irrelevant.

I would think Illinois State’s payroll is in that ballpark with retaining Walker, Kinziger and a pretty strong supporting cast.

I heard we were trying for $250,000, but I don't know if that was for all sports or just basketball. I do know we a have a general NIL fund and a separate basketball NIL fund.

There is absolutely no way ISU kept that squad together for $250k when Kennard Davis made almost $1 million himself at BYU. It has to be significantly higher than that.

Johnny K is a nice player but he isn’t the type of guy who was going to get major money on the market. Walker - possibly. But not Johnny or any other returning Redbird.
